"You've got the mind of Einstein but the body of a sexually-frustrated bunny rabbit, you know that?"
"Did you really just say bunny rabbit?" The Colonel snorts, dragging on a cigarette while running his fingers down my chest lazily.
"And?"
"Nothing, Pudge, nothing at all."
"What you doing over summer?"
"Probably just staying at home. Mom says I can bring a friend if I want." He adds casually.
"I don't really count as a friend though, do I?" I laugh as I roll onto my side to face him.
"I guess not."
Silence for a while. I don't know where Takumi or Lara are, and, to be honest, I don't really care. It's been just me and the Colonel for a while, and it's good.
"Do you miss her?" My heart stutters a little, just like it always does at any mention of Alaska. But it's not as painful as it used to be.
"Course I do."
"Don't you ever like, you know, we're forgetting about her?"
"She wouldn't've wanted us to mope around after her for months. A few weeks maybe."
He sniggers. "But you loved her, I know. Sometimes I get the feeling I'm kinda a rebound – to help you get over your grief and guilt."
"God no! I never had a chance with her, not really. You know that better than anyone. Maybe she was just lonely that night, or, more likely, it was just an Alaska-impulse."
"Huh."
He splashes his feet in the water a bit.
"Ok."
"What?"
"I wanna go to yours over summer."
"Really?"
"Not as friends though."
The Colonel grinned, pushing me down and leaning over. "That can be arranged."
A/N: random i know, but i read this book the other day and fell in love both with the book and pudge/colonel pairing - so this is the semi-decent writing that was produced, but then again it has no plot whatsoever so you may feel differently lol :)
