Um, first FFXIII fic! Yay! I started a new game, and the idea just kinda popped up when I was on The Palamecia. So. Yeah. This is also my first attempt at humor, so… Review please?
Summary: Not that they were having a competition, or anything...
Disclaimer: I feel that this is unnecessary, but whatever. I don't own Final Fantasy XIII.
It wasn't an official competition. But, as Lightning reflected back on the previous battles, they were getting a little carried away. The little thing she had started with her teammates had no rules, as it wasn't something they admitted to out loud. They'd been fighting their way through The Palamecia, and Lightning had been about to finish off a PSICOM Huntress, when Fang cut the woman down just before her. She turned to smirk at Lightning, calmly placing her spear into its holster on her back. Lightning, in response, took out the next three PSICOM Raiders in quick succession, and cast a victorious glance in Fang's direction.
From there, it had only escalated when Hope had blasted a PSICOM Reaver with Fira, causing both Fang and Lightning to turn and glower at the poor boy. He gulped nervously, but secretly high-fived Snow when their backs were turned. He pulled two Credit Chips off the defeated soldiers and pocketed them.
In the next battle against three Vikings, Lightning had summoned Odin, and proceeded to destroy all three of the tilters with Zantetsuken. Fang glared and Hope sighed in defeat. Snow was doing his best not to burst out laughing. He'd once let out a snicker at Lightning's expense after Hope had Aero'd an Infiltrator that she had launched into the air, and had very nearly gotten a gunblade pointed in his face.
Snow, for his part, had been perfectly content to watch until they'd found Sazh and Vanille. As they descended down towards the bridge of the airship, he'd charged a Froststrike at another Reaver, but Fang got there first. She launched the elite into the air and quickly cut him down. Snow frowned. He was the hero, damnit!
Sazh and Vanille, in the meantime, watched their companions battle their way towards the bridge. Vanille was trying to keep track for them, and Sazh just shook his head.
When Lightning finished off the last PSICOM Dragoon before the entrance to the bridge, she'd smirked to herself. Now it was time to get serious, but she'd won. Not that they were having a competition or anything.
She spent all nine of the Incentive Chips she'd collected on a new gunblade and enough spare parts to build an airship, which all went towards her new weapon. Hope maxed out his Shaman's Mark and bought a Guardian Amulet, and Fang had bough herself a Titanium Bangle and a Brawler's Wristband. And Snow? Well…he got a Potion.
As Sazh always said, "To the victor go the spoils."
Um, yeah, that's that! In case you didn't get it, whoever killed the last PSICOM goonie got all the treasure. Whenever I won battles in the game, and the camera focused on whoever got the last enemy, I kinda wondered to myself if they ever had competitions…or rather, unspoken ones.
