There's a lot of down time in the recovery from cancer. Before, Cosima might have spent the hours studying or researching whatever caught her eye that moment. She is no stranger to the wikipedia information spiral. But in the quiet times after scans and tests free of any signs and before her strength and energy return, the idea of further research makes her heart feel leaden and her head sore. She has spent too much time, too much of herself on this already. She needs a break.
Delphine has an apartment, not that either of them ever spent much time inside of it. They always seem to end up in Cosima's place, warm and safe and home, so it surprises Cosima when Delphine mentions she's going to run by the apartment later. "To get something for you," she promises.
Something turns out to be a cardboard box that Delphine sets at her feet with a smile. Cosima raises her eyebrows. "Did you fetch this for me?" Delphine snorts and hits her on the knee, then opens the box. Cosima's brow furrows. "Video games?"
"I thought it might be something for you to do." She shrugs, smiling faintly.
"Yeah, but video games, Delphine. Video games."
"We're both clear they're video games, yes. What about it?"
"I just...I never would have pegged you for the video game type." Cosima rifles through the box, coming away with a copy of Portal in hand. "I always meant to play this, but never found the time."
"Hmm. I think you'll like it. It's very sciencey."
Cosima pulls her in for a kiss. "Alright. Let's play, and I would again like to stress my complete confusion and surprise about this, video games."
