Mischievous
"I'm missing one." Jackie said out loud to herself as she looked around the living room at all the kids.
Jasmine, Johnna, Karlie, and Hundley were all having a mini tea party.
Houston and Sloan were racing cars around the room, Ryan sat grinning as he watched his two older brothers, and baby Nora sat happily squealing in her bouncer.
Jackie wandered into the kitchen to look for Boone who had escaped somehow.
She found him next to Dolly's bowl of food.
"Boone, no, no, that is really icky." Jackie said as she hurriedly scooped up the toddler and pried the dog food out of his hands before he could stick it into his mouth.
She then carried him over to the sink so she could wash his hands.
For her part Dolly was laying across the room from her food bowl, her head lifted slightly and her tail wagging gently, looking at Boone as if to say I don't think you'd like my food human brother but I'll share if you really want some.
Boone babbled at Jackie in protest as she washed his hands.
Jackie smiled and shook her head at the stubborn little one.
After his hands had been cleaned off she carried him back into the living room.
She set him down next to Ryan but within just seconds he was crawling back towards the kitchen.
"No." Jackie said as she got up and cut him off.
She then went and got a chair from the kitchen table and placed it in front of the walkway to the kitchen so he couldn't get in there.
This time he started to cry.
"You're ok buddy, play with this." She told him as she handed him his favorite light-up toy.
He grinned at her and took the toy.
She grinned back at him, happy that she had distracted him from the dog's food.
Between all of the kids, there usually wasn't a time when one of them wasn't getting into mischief!
