'Penny, as much as this pains me to say this but I believe we must re-populate the planet,' Sheldon said looking at his feet.
A giggle escaped Penny's lips, 'you have got to be kidding me, Sheldon. Two weeks ago when the zombies first appeared you wouldn't even hold my hand and now you're trying to seduce me.'
Sheldon looked up at her like she had gone insane, 'I am hardly trying to seduce you. I am merely pointing out as the only two known unaffected humans it is our duty to produce offspring that might have a chance to reverse the disease someday. Surely with my intelligence and your… physical strength they could be the ideal human for the job.'
'Way to make a girl feel special,' Penny said standing and walking a few feet away from their fire, 'you do know I'm more than a baby making machine.'
Sheldon stood up and walked across to her. He thought about putting a comforting hand on her shoulder but than he realized her wasn't sure if that was a safe spot to touch her, 'you know I don't mean it that way.'
Penny turned to look at him, 'yes, you do. You didn't say you wanted to be with me and you don't love me. You are only doing what you think is right because you read it in some comic book or saw it in some movie.'
Sheldon stared at her silently not sure what to say.
Taking his silence as a queue she was right Penny continued, 'and if Leonard were still alive you would have convinced him to do instead just so you never had to connect with another person in your sad lonely life.'
Sheldon shook is head as he whispered, 'no, I wouldn't have'
'Whatever, Sheldon,' Penny said throwing her arms up in the air. 'I'm going to bed; we have too much ground to cover tomorrow.'
Sheldon reached out and grabbed her arm before she could walk away, 'I would never have paired you with Leonard, and he was never good enough for you not even if there were only two men left on the earth.'
'Sure, Sheldon.'
'I'm serious, Penny,' he told her running his fingers up and down her arm, 'If Leonard were still alive, I would not let him be with you. He never loved or deserved you. You deserved better'
Penny lifted his fingers from her arm, 'I know, Sheldon but if they male population is dead I'm not going to be getting better am I?'
'You've got me,' Sheldon moved within inches of her and took her hand in is own squeezing it.
Penny's cheeks turned red as she looked up at the physicist as he told her, 'I know I may not be what you deserve but you know I will always try my best, even if that means holding your hand when you need a friend and protecting you when the zombies attack.'
Penny reached up and kissed Sheldon's cheek and pulled him towards her sleeping bag, 'I think you might be onto something, maybe you are what I deserve after all.'
