Forever Young (at heart)
Post war, ignoring epilog. A sort one-shot focusing on Harry and Hermione reflecting on how their lives have changed, or maybe not.
Returning to Hogwarts for what is technically their 8th year, since Hermione wouldn't have had it any other way...
"There you are Hermione" Harry said as he walked towards her where she was standing, looking over the grounds of Hogwarts from her position at the wall of the astronomy tower "I have been looking for You".
"Harry...do you think this place has changed for the better? I know that the worst and most evil wizard has been defeated, but who says that it hasn't opened a door for greater hurt and destruction".
Walking over to his best friend who stuck by him threw everything, Harry wrapped his arm around her.
"Hermione, I know that we have both lost a lot, that it may not seem like it now but things will get better. I'm glad it is over, although the destruction caused was the worst so far, it is the last."
Looking at Harry, Hermione giggled, saying "I guess your right Harry, since when are you the wise one?"
"I guess since I met you and had to keep up somehow. " Looking at his watch, he realized that they were late "We should go, the feast is starting."
Walking towards the door, Hermione grabbed Harry's hand "Your right, we can't be late."
"Hermione its only the welcome feast, we won't miss out. Ron has improved his eating habits."
In the same tone she had used in 1st year, "Harry we still need to be there, we need to make up for the time we missed as well as enjoy our last feast here as students."
Mumbling to himself Harry said "I guess things never change."
"What was that Harry?"
"Nothing, just thinking how it seems that regardless of what we go threw we seem to still be who we were when we dunderhead 1st years"
"Ya, were may be scared from battle but still young at heart. Now come on, were late."
