Had nothing to do last night, and consequently, this was born. A short little drabble in the Jump Then Fall universe, except 'Dylan' has been changed to 'Sam', of course :)
Someday
"I want to marry you."
I let it sink in for a moment before chuckling against Sam's chest.
"It's not legal." I twirled a blade of grass around my index finger.
He propped himself up on his elbow to look me in the eye. "Who the fuck cares?"
I poked him in the stomach. "Ey. Language."
He licked his lips and inched closer to me. "You know you love it."
Stretching out on the grass, I looked up at the overcast sky. So much for stargazing. A small breeze rustled through my hair, causing a few browning leaves to float down around us.
"Well, I'm not gonna argue with that." I smirked.
Sam scoffed and shook his head. "Come'ere, you."
Without warning, he swooped down and captured my lips in his. God, I had missed him. His taste had changed over the long, dragging summer. It was better though, more filet mignon than hamburger. I leaned into the kiss, nipping at his bottom lip till they parted, granting my eager tongue access. Mmm, yep, it had been way, way too long. His kisses becoming more frantic as he ran his hand up my leg, grabbing my thigh and pulling me roughly against him. I couldn't help but let out a moan and arch against him, his mouth moving to suck the tender skin on my neck.
"God, I missed you so much," I breathed, chest heaving up and down.
He reached for the buttons on my shirt, bringing his lips back to mine as he undid them with shaky fingers. I took a fistful of his jet black curls, leaning up for better access. He ran his cold hands down my stomach as I moved to kiss his neck, his rough skin tasting salty from the dew on the grass. Finally, his fumbling fingers reached the buttons on my pants, undoing each one quickly before cupping me through the fabric.
"Oh, Sam, we can't," I said, voice thick with lust. "Not tonight. Your mom's right upstairs. And for all we know, your crazy sister could be watching us from the window."
Sam kissed me again, arms tightening around my waist. "I don't care."
"Baby, I promise," I continued, breaking the kiss. "Next week, we'll be in New York, and once we have our shared NYU dorm room, complete with soundproofed walls, you can do whatever you want to me, whenever you want. Okay?"
Sam pouted, and reluctantly redid my buttons. "Alright."
After a few minutes of shifting and silence, our breathing returned to normal. My face was safely buried in Sam's cotton-clad chest, is arms around me protectively and our legs tangled. It was really a beautiful night, stars or no stars. He placed a sweet kiss on the top of my head.
"You know, I meant what I said earlier," he whispered. "I really do want to marry you."
I grinned and snuggled closer into his arms. "Really?"
"Really really," he replied. "I mean, not now. Someday, in the future. Someday when it's legal and we're older and ready."
The image of Sam and I sitting on a porch with gold bands around our fingers and three little children playing around us flashed across my mind. I had to admit, it sounded incredible... eew, wait, minus the children.
I smiled up at him, his gray eyes sparkling. "Someday."
