Slowly the sun began to rise and filter through the blinds and illuminate Kaneki's stark white hair which was currently draped over his face, not unlike the disheveled clothes on the wooden floor. Gradually the bittersweet aroma of coffee permeated the early morning air which stimulated his heightened senses. Upon waking up to the aroma of freshly made coffee and the incessant ruffling of sheets he attempted to retreat further beneath the covers. The ruffling stopped. After a few seconds he once again, fell into a deep slumbe- The door slid open, grabbing his attention, and then a faint voice uttered from the doorway at the other end of the room.

"Ken, it's time to wake up", the source of the voice suddenly leaped onto him causing his body to jolt in response. A familiar sensation of something suddenly grazed against his lips had pulled his attention towards her face.

"I've even made coffee" Touka said whilst staring contently into his dark hazel eyes. "C'mon" she continued "everyone is waiting for you downstairs". Touka suddenly slid off the bed and was caught by Kaneki's hand that pulled her down towards his face, and his other hand laying on her cheek while he passionately took the opportunity to kiss her, the kiss didn't last long until she reluctantly pulled away.

"I promise there'll be time for that later" Touka said blushing "hurry up, you don't want to be late do you? Mr One-Eyed King" she said teasingly, probably to get him back for making her blush so intensely.

"I'll be down in a minute, I'm not much of a morning person" Kaneki replied with an awkward but at the same time lovable smile.

Touka nodded with an affectionate smile and then edged towards the door before stopping at the sound of his voice behind her.

"I'll hold you to that promise" he said with a smug grin.

Touka sighed to hide her excitement, she was always afraid of letting others know how she truly felt; Kaneki was aware of this fact because he was the same. But together they could confide in one another, Touka was Kaneki's joy and Kaneki was Touka's joy. It was an unbreakable bond they'd formed through many hardships, such as the fight with Tsukiyama, training with touka or just throwing insults around in Anteik- The sound of the door shutting halted Kaneki's train of thought.

"I guess I'll get ready then" he said to himself. He'd developed the habit of talking to himself throughout his childhood and the many days of being imprisoned in Cochlea, to him there wasn't much difference between the two.
