Its been six weeks since that fateful day since Hermione found that she was
expected to live with Draco for as long as a year. They were to "share a
tower, responsibilities and be a major part in each other's lives."
Dumbledor frowned at the two head's expression when he had said this. Giving each one his infamous penetrating stares he began, "I know this has come as a shock to you both but we cannot afford to have feuding between us if we are to victor over Voldermort." The two enemies winced in unison at the name. "Although I know I am asking rather a lot of you two" he continued, "I must say I trust you both will learn to do what you must. Both have you have learnt from an early age to do what you can, come what may, so I ask this of you to show the rest of the magical world that petty feuds cannot stand in the way of friendship"
Looking back at those words Hermione has to say that she had come to believe in them. Although at first annoyed at the prospect of having to form good relations with one who she had come to hate for her entire teenage life, Hermione has come to learn that she must do what she must and that trivial animosity cannot be accounted for.
The school of Hogwarts has changed rather dramatically since we had left it last, the threat of the dark lord's rise to power has kept many afraid and alert. The ministry of magic, under the continuous rulings of Fudge were still adamant to deny the rise of the dark lord, although muggles and witches alike had been disappearing at an increasing rate since the start of the summer three years ago. Due to Fudge's stubborn beliefs, Dumbledor had to collect his own power to do what he must to detain Voldermort's rise. This has caused Hogwarts to change from an ordinary school to be a centre of a large magical movement where sectors are devoted to magical relations and the strengths of friendship.
Back to the story.
Draco was pacing up and down the common room. "If we do indeed incorporate ogres in our list of friends would they not be a liability rather than help." "But you see, if we don't offer our hand in friendship now, we may never have the chance" replied Hermione. "Look at it this way, the more friendship possibilities we have, the stronger we have the potential to become." Draco smiled exasperatedly, "yes of course you're right, queen of wisdom. You know all." "Good" she smiled "now you can stop disturbing me and allow me to resume my studies for my N.E.W.T. s, as should you.
The two of them had called a truce a month ago. They had felt that living together with unresolved disputes was impossible so had written up an incantation to destroy them and get on with their work. Dumbledor now needed them more than ever so they had to spend all their time and efforts in resolving the tension building up within Hogwarts as well as gaining the top grades they both needed.
