The wind was frigid, blowing fiercely across the hills. It ripped through my hair and threw dust in my face but I ignored it. The icy blasts didn't compare to how cold and numb I felt inside. With single minded determination, I walked onward. With each step, my heart thudded in terror but I couldn't be deterred. Not today. My heart clenched painfully at the thought. The light was quickly fading from the sky as I drew closer. That was alright. I preferred to visit under the cover of darkness anyway. I raised my head, realizing I had been walking with my gaze on the ground.

There it stood, glorious and gleaming red in the dying light. It was almost a chilling sight, looking drenched in blood. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen though. For a decade, it had stood here, the symbol of all the hopes, dreams, and honor of three different men, myself included. It was the embodiment of everything that he had been, beautiful and deadly. I felt my breath catch in my throat. Trembling, I reached out and ran a gloved finger along the cold metal surface. The wind picked up, howling in my ears and giving a voice to the grief I carried still. I opened my mouth, his name on ym lips but I choked. I slid to my knees, too weak to stand anymore. A sob escaped instead of the name I so longed to say.

Lightening cracked across the sky, illuminating everything with a blinding white light. My eyes widened as a shape appeared in the reflection of the blade. I whirled around, clumsily for me, in the dirt as my hand went for the sword strapped to my back. I didn't have time though, caught off guard in this most private of moments. Hands shot out of the darkness to grip my shoulders tightly, pushing me back against the sword in the ground. I raised startled eyes to the face of my assailant to see the glowing violet blue eyes that haunted my every thought a split second before a warm mouth crashed over mine. My sense overloaded, I froze, at least until I tasted cinammon and honey. Tears flooded my eyes as I threw myself into the kiss, my hands desperately twining themselves into long dark hair that was as unruly as my own.

The kiss was wild, full of longing and agony and love. It was everything I remembered it being. It was so like him. It was home. My heart was thudding furiously in my ears as I kissed him. Tears were rolling down my face and I felt his lips curve into the heartbreaking smile I loved so much. His mouth left mine and I almost moaned aloud at the loss. I opened my eyes and looked up at him only to lose myself again into his. I felt like my heart was going to explode.

"Cloud, Cloud, Cloudy, my Cloud. Don't cry anymore..."he breathed softly. His large hands cupped my face with familiarity. He swept a thumb across my cheek, catching the tears that were falling faster.

"Don't cry, Cloudy. I'm home now."

My heart stopped. His name finally found its way from my lips as I felt the darkness rear up and swallow me whole.

"Zack..."
