Just a short, silly thing because I was bored at work as I so often am. Dark-English-Rose gave me the opening line as she has so many times and I went from there. I love doing this. Enjoy!
Riding
"You don't know how to do it?" There was a tick at the corner of Giles' mouth that said he was trying valiantly to suppress a snicker.
"Yes, lets all laugh at me for it now."
"Oh don't sound so put out, Wes. Besides, there's only you and me here." Giles rolled his eyes and Wes gave up on the effort to pout. With an inward sigh of relief as no one could resist that look for long and least of all Giles, he rested a hand on Wesley's shoulder and guided him over to the fence. He didn't miss the tenseness under his hand or Wes' fidgeting.
"I don't know... Are you sure it's safe?"
Giles guffawed at him. "Of course it's safe! You fight demons for a living and you're afraid of a harmless animal?"
"A very large harmless animal." Wes didn't sound at all convinced. "A very large, dark, red eyed beast."
Giles shot him a disbelieving look. "She's a small, brown horse that's falling asleep waiting for you to get some bloody courage."
"She's looking at me funny."
Giles sighed as Wes looked stubborn, going as far as to cross his arms over his chest. "Now come on, Wes. I promise not to let her eat you and if you make it through the day, I'll reward you when we get back to the hotel."
There was a flicker in Wes' eyes and Giles knew he had won. A moment later and Wes was sighing, arms dropping to his side and giving a sullen nod.
"Very well, lets get this over with."
Giles grinned and helped him up onto the little bay mare. She promplty spooked and threw Wes into the fence.
"Rupert!"
Wes' bellow was probably heard over the entire third floor. Giles sighed from where he stood about five feet away and rolled his eyes. His expression was schooled to patience when he turned to face Wesley though.
"Yes, Wesley?"
Wesley held up an empty tea cup. "It needs refilling." He gave Giles the most pathetic look known to man. How could Giles not give the man anything he wanted?
Besides, it was sort of his fault that Wes' back had been thrown out and he couldn't move from the bed now anyway. Giles had really dug his own grave and now he had been relegated to Wes' servant with Wes telling him every so often "I told you so".
If Wes didn't stop giving him that haughty expression though, Giles was going to refuse to keep getting him tea before long. This time though, he took the cup and went to refill it.
Wes sighed his delight when a new warm cup was placed in his hands and took a caustious sip. He beamed at Giles. "Thank you, Rupert."
Giles stared at him for a moment and tried not to melt at the look. "You are utterly endearing." Wes looked smug and Giles rolled his eyes again. "How are you feeling?"
"Much better. Perhaps next time you'll think twice before making me get on one of those creatures."
And here it started again. Wes' hourly beratment of Giles for being such a git. Surely there had to be a way to make Wes shut up...
"Can you move?" Giles' sudden question made Wes' lecture stutter to a halt. He narrowed his eyes as Giles looked at him deviously and answered with slow warryness.
"No..."
"So you're stuck in that bed and unable to stop me doing whatever I wanted to you?" Giles put on his very best innocent look that he knew Wes wasn't fooled by for a moment as the other man nodded slowly.
"I suppose you could put it like that."
Giles was the one looking smug this time and moments later had Wes making only moans or whimpers or begging for more as he showed Wes exactly how one was meant to ride.
