"Zach, tell me where you've been?" Zach just shook his head.
"Gallagher girl, please," he looked at me, his eyes drowning me. "I'm just trying to protect the most important thing in my life." He said without another word, he turned the radio back up.

Sneakin' out late, tapping on your window
I heard the smallest tap, and I looked around to see if my roommates had noticed. Macy's eye mask unmoved, while Bex and Liz were sound asleep. I moved over to the window and then I saw a phone sitting outside on the window seal, with a note.
I opened the window just enough to snatch the phone, the note said.
Hey Gallagher Girl, know how to use a phone? -Z
I almost screamed when I realized how incredibly sneaky Zach was, he'd passed our security, and my scream was only from pure excitement. Because as I looked over the handwriting I grew familiar with, the phone vibrated and it said 'new message' I hit the read button and almost burst with giggled.
'Gallagher Girl, call me when you figure out how to use this thing. -Z'
When we're on the phone and you talk real slow

"So how's your summer so far?" I whispered into the phone. I could hear Zach grin on the other side.
"I'm not in authority to tell you that, Gallagher girl." He said and instead of getting upset I just smiled.
Then I heard a creak and I whispered quickly, "Looks like I have to go Blackthorn boy," and I hit the end button.
I was walking up the front porch steps after everything that day

Today had been the day I'd come home after everything with Macey. I read the note over and over.
His safety? I didn't get that part, but Josh just didn't interest me right now. Except for one other boy, who was all I was interested in- and my own safety of course. I picked a single rose and smelled it, oddly it smelled like him… What a crazy thought!
