This is a modern version of the balcony scene from Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. This was also an English project for our Other Cultures unit in which we read Romeo and Juliet. It is written as a script just like the original play so I'm sorry if that bothers anybody.
Disclaimer: I don't own Merlin or Romeo and Juliet.
Scene: Gwen and Arthur are in a field by the river at night.
Gwen: If anybody finds us here, we will get in so much trouble.
Arthur: I've been coming here for all of my life, and not once have I gotten caught.
Gwen: I'm more worried about you're father. He always thought of me as below you, as would be expected. I mean, you are the heir to the throne.
Arthur: My father's throne means nothing to me if I can't share it with you.
Gwen: His reaction still worries me. However, I am glad to be here with you. Truth be told, I've had a crush on you since we were little.
Arthur: I always thought that you weren't interested in me so I never bothered to ask you out.
Gwen: You're my first boyfriend, you know. I never found anybody else as wonderful as you.
Arthur: You are quite a rare beauty if I do say so myself.
Gwen: Oh, stop it. So, tell me about yourself.
Arthur: What is there to tell? We've known each other our whole lives. We went to the same school.
Gwen: Well, what should we talk about?
Arthur: What we always talk about: anything and everything.
Hours pass
Arthur: Look, the sun's rising.
Gwen: It's beautiful. I hate to say it but we should probably go now.
Arthur: Or we could run away together and never look back.
Gwen: I'll make sure to think about it.
Arthur: See you at school, Gwen.
Gwen: Bye, Arthur.
Gwen kisses Arthur on the check then walks off.
Gwen (to herself): If only we could just run away together.
