A Strange Beginning.

I rummaged around the house looking desperately for my bag, I only had so much time before he'd return. "Is it really that hard to find a duffel bag!" I yelled clenching my fist together. "WHERE ARE YOU?" I growled, dropping to my stomach and looking under my bed for thedark colored sack. "Finally." I grabbed the bag with a sigh of relief.

Sitting back up I noted the time on the clock. "One hour." Jumping up, I rushed around my poor excuse for a room grabbing what little I had. I was glad to finally be doing this. "Essentials." I told myself. "Shoes, Socks, Underclothes." I only had so much anyway. I stared at my room, its olive drab walls and oddly placed 'girly' items like toys and bright colored desks, spoke to the nature of how it was trying desperately to hide something horrid. I never wanted to see that room again.

Shutting the door, I made my way downstairs. The clock danced in my face. Time would be up in thirty-three minutes. I could always go back and pretended I had never tried to leave. My body shook, I was my own person and I would not subject myself to this anymore. I could do this, I needed to do this. In the kitchen I grabbed food, water, flashlight and knife. In the bathroom I grabbed my toothbrush, ignoring my reflection in the mirror. I was out the door with twenty minutes to spare. I walked away from the house flipping the bird, my body feeling lighter, like a weight had lifted. I slipped into the woods and started my journey.

The Bus station wasn't far from my house. A fifteen minute walk, by cutting through the woods. I would be out of this town by the time he got home. I stepped up to the ticket booth. A young man eyes me carefully, tattoo's ran up his arms then where hidden under his MTA uniform.

"Hello" He greeted me, sounding bored. "Where do you wish to travel"

"I need the cheapest ticket to the city." I replied, leaning in towards the window.

He leaned forward and whispered. "Runaway?"

"Fuck no." I replied, looking around.

The man shrugged "I can get you a deal, 'not runaway'." He replied.

"What is it?" I asked nervously, taping my foot.

"Hundred dollars gets you a ticket to the big apple and a year subway pass"

"I'll take it" I mumbled slipping him a hundred dollar bill.

"Enjoy your Bus ride." He replied with a devious grin.

I scurried away as fast as I could, to my bus and climbed aboard. I kept my bag on my lap, ready to run at a moments notice. This was it, my heart was racing. The doors shut and the driver called out his destination. I popped my headphones in and stared out of the window as the world began to speed by. This is it. I thought to myself, before realizing it was safe enough to drift to sleep.

So ? Good/Bad? Ideas anything?
