"This is unbelievable!" I cried out angrily as I plopped down onto a tree stump. I had just been told that I would have to watch over Pearl Jackson for a year before I was ready to go find my own half-blood to watch over. I was furious; if it had been any other half-blood besides Pearl I would have been less mad. I mean, I would have even chose Donny Mills over her and he eats his boogers!
"It will be fine, Pearl is a sweet girl." Chiron said in his soft yet powerful voice. I had to hold back a snort at the sound of his words; Pearl was the total opposite of sweet. She thought she was the best thing since sliced bread just because both of her parents are demi-gods, she is always pointing out about how much better she is than everyone else and she always likes to brag about getting to have two cabins.
I supposed I could forgive Chiron for not seeing how Pearl really was though, he was getting old, he was about seven hundred years old and he was getting cataracts. I had once suggested that he got get surgery to fix the cataracts but he had said that a mortal optometrist was no match for his centurion eyes.
I thought about asking Chiron to make another satyr look after Pearl but then I remembered that the only satyrs left at Camp Half-blood besides myself were, Grover, but he always has stuff of his own going on, and Florian but he's a reckless idiot. Some of the satyrs, including the Cloven of Elders, had left because they felt no reason to stay since they weren't searching for Pan anymore and could no longer get their Searchers' License. All the other satyrs left because alcohol was prohibited on camp grounds because of Dionysus' addiction. They had decided to go look for the heavenly liquid elsewhere.
"It won't be so bad, Nan." Chiron said putting his hand on my shoulder. I suppressed a sigh at the sound of my name, I hated it; everyone always called me Nanny and said that I was a girl. Pearl was the worst about it, even though I was older than her, she was bigger than me and she thought that gave her the right to push me around.
"Hey." Pearl said in her overly sweet voice that makes me want to vomit. I swear she's psychic or something, she always appears when I am thinking about her.
"What do you want?" I snapped.
"Don't be rude." Chiron warned giving me a stern look.
"Yea, don't be rude." Pearl retorted, sticking her tongue out at me. Chiron was watching a bird so he didn't see her action; no one ever saw the bad things she did.
"Anyway, I was wondering if I could play with my new pet satyr." Pearl said. Chiron let out a gasp and I had to resist the urge to punch her. Pet satyr? Pet satyr? Who does this girl think she is?
"Satyrs are protectors and friends, not pets." Chiron explained.
"My dog is a friend and protector and he's a pet." Pearl said with a shrug.
I rolled my eyes and sighed.
"Do I keep him in a cage or can he run free? What if he poops on the carpet?"
"You are thirteen years old, are you really THAT stupid?" I asked through gritted teeth.
"You better be nice to me, I'm your owner now!" She exclaimed.
"Aren't you going to do anything?" I whined to Chiron, I didn't mean to sound like a baby but I was getting really sick of her antics.
"She's your responsibility now." Chiron muttered with a chuckle. I couldn't believe my ears; I had just been trolled by Chiron!
"Not funny!" I yelled after him as he was walking away.
"Now that I have you alone, we're going to have some fun." Pearl smirked.
Oh crap.
AN: Sorry if Chiron seemed out of character and stuff, also sorry if I was misinformed on anything, I haven't read the books in ages and I haven't seen the second film yet.
