Out of all the things Luna thought odd about Draco Malfoy, she thought that this, by far, might as well be the oddest. He had a passion for shiny things -- she could tell the first moment she had layed eyes on him. Why else had he boasted and tittered about his fortune so fervently? It was obvious to her that he was unhealthily attracted to the sparkle and shine his galleons caught in the light. Too bad Ron Weasley hadn't caught on himself to Draco's little weakness. Shame, really. Could be used so humorously against him -- not that Luna Lovegood had a malicious hair on her golden head.

There was also, of course, the whole thing with Ginny. It was quite by accident when she had first noticed Draco's facination with her friend. It had been a particularly sunny day in the Great Hall and Ginny's hair seemed to light up like a beacon whenever there was even a hint of sunshine -- Luna quite liked that about her friend. So, apparently, did Draco.

Of course, Draco being Draco had his own way of going about things. She had looked up from her bacon only for a moment to wave at Ginny, who had paused on her way to leaving the hall to bid her farewell. Luna was nearly blinded herself -- the sun was directly overhead and was doing dazzling things to Ginny's already fiery red hair. Luna had giggled to herself and blinked away the blue spots in her eyes cheerfully. It was when her vision had cleared that she had looked up to see Draco topple out of his chair. She watched interestedly as two red spots appeared high on his cheekbones and his eyes narrowed as he looked at her redheaded friend. Ginny didn't seem to notice Draco staring and continued on her way -- Luna smiled serenely to herself as Draco's gaze turned almost predatory. He almost fell over his own feet as he followed her a moment later, and it was then that Luna realized that this was bound to happen sooner or later.

The only question is, will it be sooner or later?
