Looking in the mirror Brooke smiled at her friends. Haley, Peyton, Rachel and Millie stood behind her looking at Brooke's image in the mirror. She was a vision, in her silk form-fitting ivory wedding dress. Her hair was loose and had a simple flower in it. "You look stunning, " Haley was the first to speak. Wiping her tears Peyton said "this is it B. Davis, the first day of the rest of your life. You ready?" "I've been ready since I was 17" Brooke responded.
"I love you guys." Brooke said to her friend as she turned to face them. "Each of you represent various parts of my life and I'm honored you agreed to stand with me while I exchange my vows." Brooke smiled. "Let's go get me married!" She said as all the friends laughed. A knock on the door made all the girls jump. "I'll get it," volunteered Millie. She opened the door to reveal a server with an array of food and three other men with boxes of flowers. Millie invited them in and hidden behind the flowers walked in Karen Roe. "The boys sent in to see if you ladies were holding up okay," she stated as she walked in with three adorable flower girls and two handsome ring bearers. As she looked around the room she caught a glimpse of the bride. "Oh my. Brooke, you look…" She began to tear as she approach the younger lady whom she loved like her own daughter. Brooke extended her hands out to Karen and the two women stood close to one another. The other ladies went to inspect the trays of food as Karen and Brooke engaged in what could only be described as a mother-daughter moment.
"I love you Karen. In all my life you have made the most impact, the only person who ever really cared for me as a child should be cared for." Brooke squeezed Karen's hands and then added "You're also the only person to have ever gotten me on all fours to "mop" the floors!" Two laughed, Karen spoke next. "Brooke, I am so proud of you. You have grown to become such an amazing woman, a strong, independent, loyal, caring, and smart, savvy and extremely stunning woman. I'm so lucky that my Lilly has you to look up to." Both women looked over at Lilly who was playing with Peyton's daughters Jenny and Becca and Haley's sons Jamie and Nicholas. "I love you Brooke. I wish you nothing but happiness in you marriage, congratulations." Karen leaned in and gave Brooke a kiss on both cheeks. "I love you too, thank you Karen." Brooke responded.
As they walked over to the group of ladies, who were huddled around the gorgeous bouquets of flowers the photographer walked in and asked in the ladies if the were ready for the camera. The girls squealed with excitement. "Okay ladies, as co-Maid of Honor I need to make sure we keep our schedule. Get ready to smile," instructed Haley. Karen looked over at the kids and then back to the group of friends, she marveled at the sight of it all.
"Oh I almost forgot," Karen said as she looked to Brooke, "your fiancé wanted you to have this," she pulled out a small box from her purse with an envelope attached to it and handed it to Brooke. With delight and excitement Brooke tore open the light blue box to reveal a stunning brilliant cut diamond suspended on a thin white gold delicate chain. Brooke looked at the diamond and then with her mouth still opened turn the box to show her friends. They all commented "oohhs and aahhs," Karen offered to help Brooke put the necklace on. Still speechless Brooke held her hair up as Karen fasted the necklace.
Looking for the envelope Brooke reached to the side table it lay and open it. In it a card that read "Pretty Girl…waiting in great anticipation at the end of the aisle. I love you."
