Long ago, before there was good fear, the Boogeyman terrorized lives through the Dark Ages. The land he 'owned' was ancient as the children lived in wooden cabins and fires of the camps saw each and every night. And every night fear arose to take away their peace and brought on the hope for the morning's soft glow. Pitch scared many villages, more than he could count, and one of those traumatized societies was home to Hallow.
Present Day
The shaking of the hinges signaled the entrance into their bedroom. The mother, drowsy with sleep at this unforgivable hour, shot up when a small voice broke the silence.
"Mom, can I sleep with you tonight?"
Peering through the dark, the mother spotted her youngest daughter. At three feet tall and quivering in her tiny bunny slippers, the little girl hesitated forward and into the white splash of moonlight across the floor. She looked up at her mother with giant brown eyes the color of chocolate swirls and filled to the brim with hope. And fear.
"Why? What's wrong, Alicia?" The tone of her mom's voice waking her father up and he grumbled. He looked over the high-rising mound of blankets to view his frightened little girl of 5 years old.
"I had a nightmare." With that her parents shared a knowing sigh and smiled. The mother welcomed her as she moved to the edge of the bed, making room in the middle of the mattress for the girl's tiny frame. Running up and climbing over the great mountain of quilts, the child snuggled peacefully between her tired parents. Fear abandoned her as she yawned and fell asleep.
Over their covers, through their rickety door and down the darkened hall, up to a flowered, creamy doorway and over to the closet, blue eyes revealed themselves through the darkness. Bright orbs of cerulean blue illuminated the room in a soft glow. Rays of the deep color reflected through the child's mirrors and windows; casting light into every corner. Slowly the blue eyed creature slinked out of the closet and into the room.
Standing at 5 ft and 7 inches, the feminine figure carefully assessed the space. Eyeing every inch with distrust, checking for signs of danger. She had heard of Alicia's fear, she was drawn to it. But she knew this had been the work of Pitch. There was no need for a child to be afraid of sleeping in their own room at night. She scared at Halloween and every other day. She sometimes scared at night also given the name 'monster in the closet'. But this fear, no, this fear was meant to traumatize. To suck the life out of curious eyes and used for lust. She had thought Pitch was done, but apparently she needed to warn North of his comeback. She had to protect the children in any way possible.
He will not attack under the radar as long as Hallow Eve was still standing.
