Sun Burn on a Cloudy Day

"My fragile little human," the bronze haired vampire slurred quietly.
Bella groaned in quiet response as cold fingers pushed between her shoulder blades.
"Umm," she moaned faintly.
"Only you, love," the vampire murmured as he softly traced the thin line between the brunette's sun burn and her un-burned pale skin, "could go to a beach on a stormy quiet day and leave with second degree burns."
He brilliantly hid a soft chuckle.
"Mm-hmm," she agreed as she squirmed underneath his hands, silently begging him to place his cold hands more fully on her tortured back. Her 'boy'-friend assented and placed splayed hands on her upper back.
"Love," Edward whispered softly.
He received no response, Bella had already fallen asleep. With deft carefulness the bronze angel, who once stood behind her, pulled a blanket gently over her back as he climbed into bed beside her, mumbling a lullaby.
