This Thick Air
By: WhisperedSilvers
Prompt: "I feel like I always have to tip-toe around you."
Summary: In which Yona questions Hak. Drabble. Snippet from Recovery. —Yona/Hak
"What?" Hak in all honesty wants to scrubs his ears with soap, because those words did not just leave her mouth.
Jae-Ha places his fist against his mouth to muffle his laughter because finally, the princess gets a clue. His eyes crinkle at the sides, purple eyes are periwinkle and it physically pains him to stop himself from cracking a comment—a mere suggestion.
"I said," Yona starts off patiently as she repeats her question, "Why did you do—that, last night?"
Ki-Ja wants to know what they are talking about, but he doesn't have to think for long, because Hak quite literally blurts it out.
"—You mean the kiss?"
Jae-Ha has to slap his hand across Ki-Ja's muffled scream of rage; his manners and proper chivalry can take a back seat, because finally, these two…unfortunately dense…loveable people are finally putting the pieces together.
Yoon merely raises his eyebrows.
"Yes I mean the kiss," And Yona speaks so calmly, so put-together, that Jae-Ha has to wonder, what on earth will happen now?
Hak opens his mouth, but words do not come out. He blinks composing himself in his self-assured posture, "Whatever do you mean Princess? I did something I liked to do—"
"You did it before," She reminds him, "When it was raining and I was practicing."
Hak tries to rake his brain for a suitable rebuttal, Yona always manages to catch him off guard and he shrugs, "Why?" He smirks and leans closer, so his nose brushes hers, "Did you like it?"
Jae-Ha's hands tighten around Ki-Ja; he can hardly contain his glee.
Yona tilts her head, but she has this sparkle in her eye that reminds him a bit too much of someone—someone that clearly has a bad influence on her, and it's too bad, because she's with Shin-Ah right now, and is missing the entertainment.
"I just want to know, why—" She stuns her company by leaning closer towards him, and whispers softly, "Why you felt the need to do it?"
Hak can't wrap his head around this woman, who stands in front of him, challenging him, eyes darker than amethyst, she smiles her smile, she has him on edge, and those eyes of her's are sparkling, and when he answers, he does it without thinking, "Because I wanted too."
Yona blinks at the brutal honesty, but she's got him under lock and key, so she leans back and tries to calm her racing heart—when did it start beating so fast? —She swallows, tries to act casual, and she smiles, "That's all I wanted to know."
She walks away and decides to search for Shin-Ah.
Hak blinks—
The grass-haired dragon whistles, "Yona wins this round Hak," He laughs, "I wonder what will happen next?"
Jae-Ha nearly broke his neck trying to dodge his spear.
