Knock knock.
Kaito flailed under his blanket. He'd just been woken up from his wonderful dream filled with ice cream and belly rubs. He turned to look at the door.
"Come in."
The door opened and from behind it peeked out Len's head, hair down and cat ears pressed flat against the back of his head. Kaito motioned at him to come in.
The blonde tip-toed to the other's bed, and when he lay down, he clung to the Shiba Inu, pressing his face into the elder's stomach.
The dog looked down at him in wonder.
"Why are you so scared?"
The cat mumbled something, but it was muffled by his stomach.
"What?"
Len removed he face from Kaito's stomach to say something, but he was cut off by an absolutely terrifying boom of thunder. He let out a little yelp and pressed himself into Kaito's stomach again, almost making him choke.
He made a sort of "kkklrkgk!" noise and wrenched the younger from his stomach. He scratched his ears, trying to calm him down. The scratching, plus the gentle reassurances seemed to work, and Len relaxed.
Kaito curled up around him, and murmured, "don't worry, I'll protect you from the lightning."
He continued to rub his back, and he smiled.
"After all, that's what boyfriends are for."
He pecked him on the cheek, and found that Len had fallen asleep.
Kaito chuckled.
"You're really too cute for your own good."
