This is the 'Rei buys a bunny and Kai is confused(?)' fic/challenge thing I came up with all on my own! (is proud and hopes you can sense the...sarcasm)

"...what is that?"

"Hm?" Rei looked up and blinked, something about the action making his eyes look way too big and innocent. "What's what, Kai?" his hand moved slowly, rhythmically, in his lap.

"That," Kai sneered, lips curling as he nodded at the exceptionally small, tiny, furry...fluff in Rei's lap, "thing."

Rei rolled his eyes. "It's not a 'thing', you idiot. It's a rabbit. Bunny. Snow White, to be precise," he added with a crooked, sort of proud, smile.

Kai blinked. "It's...black." Rei narrowed his eyes briefly and shrugged, then looked away from Kai and down at the tiny creature in his lap and laughed softly. Snow White sniffed, nose scrunching up and emitted a squeaky sort of sound. "Dare I ask why, Rei?"

Rei shook his head. "Probably not," he admitted and smiled. "But it was so- have you felt how soft they are? Bunnies, I mean?"

Kai blinked. "Er. No. I need to go-"

"Kai?"

A pause. A heartbeat. Kai's response came hesitant and apprehensively, "yes, Rei?"

"Come here."

Even Kai could hear the difference from a request and a softly spoken command. "I'm allergic to-"

"I have seen you with cats," came the gentle reprimand and Rei looked up. "Just get over here."

Kai scowled, crossed his arms and pointedly did not move.

Sighing, Rei carefully cradled the bunny in his hands and stood up. Kai stiffened. "Rei-" he stopped himself, frowning and Rei smiled brightly, teasingly, up at him. The bunny craned her head, nose twitching and perfectly level with Kai's own nose. "...what are you doing?"

"Fluffy, isn't she?"

"Hn."

Rei's grin widened. "Oh, don't be such a grump, Kai." Kai's eyes narrowed, and he, out of spite and defiance, carefully, and far more gently than most thought him capable of, lifted the small rabbit from Rei's outstretched hands. "Careful-" Kai shot him an annoyed glare, and Rei shrugged. "It's my bunny," he mumbled defensively, eyes twinkling. He reached out, standing perhaps a bit closer to Kai than strictly necessary, and stroked Snow White with the back of a finger down her head. "I set her up in our room," Rei said, "I hope you don't mind."

Sighing, Kai shook his head. "I'll live, I'm sure."

"I'm glad," Rei smiled, deftly plucked his new pet from Kai's hands, titled this head and pecked Kai's cheek before moving off. "It's your turn to cook," he called over his shoulder before disappearing out of the kitchen.

Kai blinked, that one spot on his face suddenly much hotter. Under his breath, he muttered, "did he just...kiss me? Cheeky bastard..." but it was almost fondly, and he unconsciously rubbed his cheek as he moved for the refrigerator.
