The Return of the Diary

diary. slimey diary. slimey wet diary. slimey wet brown diary. slimey wet brown rotten diary.

One day in Hogwarts Advanced Academy of Witchcraft and Wizardry…

18-year old Harry Potter woke up to the sun shining through the curtains. Hogwarts had built a new private school for special students. Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley had also made it and unfortunately, Draco Malfoy.

The first class after a breakfast of chicken, toast and OJ was Mr. Uhuho Vinerian's, the Transfiguration professor. Harry secretly sent blue-lavender sparks from the end of his wand as the teacher droned on about the rules and the skills they would learn at the five years of the Academy. Suddenly, his desk began to shake. "Earthquake?" Harry thought instantly. He just then realized no other desks were shaking like his. He shook violently on his chair, and abruptly apparated.

He stood up at his new location. The diary he saw 6 years ago was standing before him, and so was his 12-year old self.

His 12-year old self spoke in a hoarse whisper, "Hello, Harry. Help… me… Harry…" he dropped off.

"What?! W-who are you?" Harry (older) stammered.

"It is me!" his voice echoed, growing weaker and weaker. "It is the diary. I have not destroyed the basilisk:" he reluctantly started his story.

"I had found the entrance to the Chamber in Myrtle's bathroom and slid down with Ron and Professor Lockhart, just as you remembered. But at that time I was too late, I made the mistake of disregarding the piece of paper the petrified Hermione. I just looked at it and seeing the text, I stuffed in my pocket for safekeeping. I am now sorry I did. The other things continued as normally as it could, except I came into the Chamber about an hour later and, well… I f-f-failed."

He stumbled over his last words. "Puh-please er-eradicate [destroy] th-this d-dia…ry…"

The listening Harry obeyed. He found a horn from a steer carrion and tried to slash through the diary with it. The rawhide cover opened with a swish, an overconfident sound. Two scarlet words slowly formed, blurry but still readable: 'You lose!'

"No, I haven't!" Harry snarled in frustration. He attempted the slashing again and when that didn't work, Harry tried to rip the pages with his bare hands. Amazingly, the pages felt like steel. Harry had no choice but to set it on fire. And thus he did so, with his wand. The diary had not expected this new brand of revenge, and it's ashes hovered slowly down to form a pile of ashes, full of gloom and melancholy. Suddenly the basilisk appeared. The sight of the ashes drove it mad and it zoomed toward the two boys. Harry suddenly remembered the other hadn't read the passage and shouted, "CLAMP YOUR EYES SHUT!" The younger obeyed and the older Harry, squinting, set the basilisk on fire, too. The basilisk screeched in pain and agony. Soon there was nothing else but two piles of ashes.

Harry returned to the real world, shaking his head. An excited voice beside him shrieked and said, "Harry's back!" It was Hermione. "Welcome back, Harry." Dumbledore stood beside him. "Harry! You were in a deep coma for two weeks already! We're glad your back but unluckily Draco isn't!" Ron said.

Note: Dumbledore flew to the school when he heard about Harry.

Note: If you couldn't read the two words in the diary, it was in a Kaufmann [boldish cursive] font and it was red. It said, 'You lose!'
