Sarah stood in an empty room. It was the beginning of her senior year and she could already sense the great things that were going to happen in this room. It was her favorite room in the school. The band room.

Sarah heard light footsteps behind her. An arm wrapped around her shoulders. She closed her eyes and leaned back against the warm body. She was so full of hope. She opened her eyes and turned to face the person behind her.

His light green eyes shined brightly. Sarah wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed his lips so lightly. Resting her head on his shoulders, he hummed softly in her ear. Sarah opened her mouth to speak.

"This is going to be a great year. An awesome year."

"I know. It is. But we can't do this anymore. It's… it's not right. We're not allowed." His bright eyes dimmed a little at this idea. He brushed a piece of hair out of her face, running a finger down her face, stopping tub her ear.

Sarah pulled from his arms. "We can still do this. I love you. I don't care. I don't care what people think of us."

"Sarah. I love you, I really do. But we can't. You know when we got together that we couldn't be together this year."

A single tear ran down Sarah's cheek. He reached to wipe it away, but Sarah backed up. She shook her head. She turned and walked to a corner to wipe away her tears. He walked towards her.

"Sarah, don't. You know that I"

"Sarah, we need some help. Steve got the tuba stuck in the door again. Oh, Mr. Kindle. I didn't know that you were here. We could use your help too." Maggie said. Other members of the band were pouring in behind her.

"No, I just got here. I need to get something from my car, and then I'll help." Mr. Kindle turned back to Sarah. She had wiped away all the tears and was helping a freshman put a mellophone on the top rack. She turned and looked back into his green eyes. "Are you going to be alright Sarah?"

"Yeah, are you alright? You looked like you were crying." Maggie looked oddly at her.

"No, no. I'm alright. I just got something in my eye. I'll come and help." Sarah fallowed Maggie out the door. Mr. Kindle touched her arm. She looked back at him. Her face was sad, eyes red with tears.

"I'm sorry. I love you." He whispered. Sarah nodded.

"So am I. So am I."
