Sadness on the winds
It was another day at school. Dull classes were in the future. Worries filled Hay Lin's mind. Her grandmother was ill, she knew that was case. It had been such a short time since, her grandmother had revealed to her and her friend they're existence as magical beings. It hadn't been long after that she had started to grow sick. Suspicions of the cause plagued her mind, ever since she had told them she had worsened. Ever since she had given the heart to Will. Hay Lin wasn't dumb, air headed she may act a lot of the time, but it didn't mean she couldn't put 2 and 2 together.
If her feeling and thought however were right, what could she do. Her grandmother had given it to Will, and Hay Lin did not think that she would take it back even if it was offered. She had looked so happy when she told them about being guardians, she had looked so please to hand the heart over to Will. Pleased and strangely almost relieved. Could she have known? Hay Lin didn't want to think about that.
Walking up the school steps the rest of her friends had seemed to surround her. They were talking about another student disappearing from school. Two police officers stepped out of the principal's office, thanking her for information that she had given. The girls started to separate, about to head to their classes. "Hay Lin I need to talk with you. Could you come to my office please." The large women said calling her over.
Hay Lin walked inside. "I can explain Miss Knickerbocker. It was just a joke!" She said as the women closed the door. She knew what was coming, she could see it in the teachers eyes when she called her over. She was trying to distract her, to not have her tell her what she knew would do. "Why don't you sit down. I don't know where to start. Your father called a few minutes ago. He's already coming to get you." The teacher said as Hay Lin sat down. "Did something happen?" Hay Lin asked before she could stop herself. She didn't want to hear it but her lips had moved without her wanting. "I'm sorry Hay Lin, but your grandmother… she has passed away." The teacher told her trying to make her voice as soft as she could. Hay Lin's head dropped. Miss Knickerbocker didn't know what else and placed a reassuring hand on the young girls shoulder.
Hay Lin knocked the hand and ran out the door. Tear fell from her eyes unable to be stopped. She ran all the way outside, and propped herself on one of the benches in the garden out the front of the school. "Why? Why did you die? Why? I Love you grandma" Hay Lin sobbed at the world. The words and her tears were blown away the breeze, a sadness on the wind.

In Kandrakar Yan Lin was receiving a pleasant welcome from the council, it had been strange waking here, she had known she would. She was sad to go, but she knew that it was her time.
"Why? Why did you die? Why? I Love you grandma"
The wind entered and whispered past her ears for only for her to hear.

"and I love you Hay Lin. I always be with."
The wind whispered back and Hay Lin continued to cry, all the time till her father arrived.
