"Trunks, how do you feel about me?"
"Gee Pan, that's a little sudden."
"Please, I just need to know."
"I love you."
"How do you love me?"
"You're my best friend. I can tell you anything. Sure, we don't get along at times but I can always count on you to be there for me. We have so much fun when we're together, I honestly can't imagine a life without you. When I get bored I immediately think of you and what you're doing, and I find myself smiling when I see you."
"Is that all?"
"You're like my sister. I watched you grow up and I'm so proud of you. When I think of your future I can't help but hope that I'll be in it, and I can only see the best life for you. I've seen your first steps, your first training session, I've been there for your first date and I've punched the living daylights of anyone who has dared to hurt you. I taught you algebra and I was there at your high school graduation. I can see your wedding, your first kid, I can see you being happy and living your life to the fullest. I've loved every minute of your life and I can't wait to see you the rest of my life."
"But is that all?"
"I love you more than my own life. I would do anything to protect you and make you happy."
"But that's all. What if we could have something? What if we tried?"
"I could fall in love with you so easily. It could happen in a second. The only reason I don't feel that way is because I know that you deserve better than me, and I won't let you spend forever thinking of what if's. Yes, we could be together and be happy. But you deserve better than happiness."
"But what if you could make me more than happy? What if you could make me feel more than anyone ever alive has ever felt?"
"You shouldn't live a life where you're with someone who is always fighting. Someone who is always risking their life, and there's a chance they may not come back. I promise that I will never hurt you, and that includes the pain of loss. I will never allow you to mourn over me."
"Is that all you can do? Can you only promise me that you won't hurt me? You know if you died today I'd still die inside."
"I refuse to let your source of happiness and reason for living to be me because if I ever did anything to hurt you then I'd be taking away what means most to you."
"But if you could, you would fall in love with me?"
"In a heartbeat."
"So what next? You're going to give up the chance for both of us to make sure that you won't hurt me and you'll always be there for me? Couldn't you do that anyways?"
"I love you Pan. That's why tomorrow I'll make sure you have the best wedding imaginable."
"So that's it then. There goes out last chance of ever being together. Once tomorrow is over, it's all over. I'll be with someone else, and there's no going back. Are you sure that's what you want?"
"I've had a long time to fall in love with you. If this is a mistake, then I can wait the rest of your life to be with you forever in the next life."
"I love you Trunks. Don't forget that."
"I love you too Pan. I'll never love anyone as much as you. Tomorrow you're getting married. You'll be so happy; you'll eventually have kids and watch them grow up like I did with you. You'll live a long a happy life. And even if I'm somewhere far away, or I'm not with you at the moment, know that I'll always be thinking of you and I'll be with you forever."
