Pokemon Adventures (c) Hidenori Kusaka
AN: I love these two, they're exactly what a fluffy, hate/love couple should be like.
Once upon a time, there lived a boy with flaming red hair who was wise beyond his years. There was something about him though, he wasn't known for charming good looks or having a modest personality, no, he was known for his reputation as a thief. Yet, there was a twist to it all. You see, he was the hero in disguise – always saving the damsel in distress.
And then there was a boy who went by the name of Gold that aspired to be the exact opposite of this boy with red hair – he wanted to be that person with charming good looks and modest personality. Yet, he wasn't, because he was anything besides modest, he knew what he had and wanted to flaunt it.
Gold came to know this boy with red hair and with every meeting, his hate towards him would grow bigger than it was last time. All because this boy was quiet and never showed any form of emotion, other than indifference, and yet, he was capable of swooning any girl he rescued - like Jasmine at Tin Tower or Crystal at Whirl Islands. Gold didn't find it fair or logical that this boy could do all that and not even care that all these beautiful girls were now pinning after him.
It wasn't until Gold found himself in his own predicament that he came to appreciate the one with red hair for his habit to rescue those in distress. It also wasn't until then – when Gold clung to the one with red hair in fear that he'd fall deeper and deeper – that he came to realize why he really was filled with rage. He didn't really care that the other got all the girls, what he was really seeking was his chance to get the redheaded boy's attention.
And when they came to stop at a secure resting place, Gold found himself gazing up it the other's eyes – they were silver and it reminded him of a knight in shining armor the way they lit up in the light. That's what this boy was after all, he was the world's knight in shining armor and Gold wished he didn't have to be, because he wanted him to stop and take a breathe of fresh air if even just for a moment. All the while, he wanted to hold this boy and let him know that he couldn't save everyone if he couldn't even save himself from his own hurt. Most all though, Gold wanted to let him know that he'd stay at his side forever if only he'd ask, because he knew that every knight in shining armor needed someone to rely on if they were ever going to get their happily ever after.
When Gold reached up and brushed a strand of red hair out of the other's face, he whispered how beautiful his eyes were before pressing his pink lips softly against the other's eyelids before resting their foreheads together. And when the first tear escaped the redheaded boy's eyes, Gold only pulled him closer and whispered comforting words, because in the end, not every hero could remain as strong as they made themselves out to be.
Not until they found their princess, that is.
