***Warning*** Some Cybertronian swearing thanks to ol' Sunnny

Sunstreaker: Don't call me that!

Jolt gazed at the large blanket of twinkling lights above. He'd never really considered how big the universe was, until now. Now that he was actually traveling in it. Jolt glanced over his shoulder to see his traveling companions gathered in a half circle. Prowl seemed to be deep in thought. He was always thinking. He was probably analyzing how to discretely pass the rotating Decepticon ships they had encountered last orbit.

Mirage was a little ways off, staring in the distance with a contemplative look on his faceplates. Although the mech could be annoying with his I-am-greater-than-thou attitude, Jolt found himself liking the mech. It was most likely because they both shared similar reasons for joining the Autobots. They joined for another Cybertronian in their lives. In Jolt's case, he joined because of his sister.

Last were Sunstreaker and Sideswipe, who were muttering to themselves with slightly suspicious looks on their grinning faceplates. Jolt had been surprised when Prowl had announced that Sideswipe and Sunstreaker would be on his team, since they were famous for their troublemaking extracurricular activities, especially since Prowl was often the target for said activities. But the SIC had merely commented that he did not trust those two without his supervision. Jolt remembered the mech's exact words.

"Primus knows what destruction they would cause if I am not present to keep them in line."

Jolt grinned. He was sure that another reason Prowl had decided to bring the twins along was because of their superb fighting skills. They were a deadly team of power and precision that few Decepticons could face on their own. Of course, Prowl would never admit that aloud. The twins were cocky enough as it was.

After the Prime's team had left Cybertron to retrieve the Allspark, Cybertron's condition had rapidly deteriorated. So much so, that the Autobots had to leave the planet, or suffer from starvation or attack from the overwhelming number of Decepticons. As SIC and temporary commanding officer in the Prime's absence, Prowl had come to the painful decision to leave Cybertron. It had been a difficult decision, but it had to be done. Autobots had left the planet in teams of five. The Arcee triplets had been paired with the twins Skids and Mudflap, since Arcee was one of the few Autobots with the patience and character to put up with and control the young mechs.

Jolt had met the twins on occasion and, although they were quite friendly and outgoing—he had to admit—their…personalities…could be a bit trying. Jolt vented a sigh and—after one last look at the inky sky of space—turned and made his way back to camp. The others glanced up at him at the sound of his approach, but before anyone could say anything, a transmission on the Autobot frequency pinged. It was for all Autobots and marked with high importance. Jolt straightened when he realized it was from Optimus Prime. Had they found the Allspark? He opened the sound file to find out.

"This is team Prime with an urgent update to all Autobots. We found the Allspark on a distant planet, designation: Earth. It is teeming with organic life. We have encountered some of these creatures, humans they call themselves, and they have been a great help to our mission. Unfortunately Megatron along with a number of his followers were already on Earth. Complications arose and—in order to keep the cube out of Megatron's grasp—I am sorry to say that necessary action was taken…The cube was destroyed, along with Megatron…It was the only way to keep Megatron from gaining absolute power."

Jolt froze. The Allspark…was…gone? How could that be? Jolt temporarily forgot that the Autobot leader had also mentioned that Megatron was offline due to the overwhelming surprise that the Allspark was gone. He stared at his fellow teammates who were all wearing shocked expressions. What were they supposed to do now? They couldn't return to Cybertron, it was only a lifeless husk. Were they to wander the stars for the rest of their live? But Prime was not finished.

"With the Allspark gone, we cannot return life to our planet. And fate has yielded its reward, a new world to call home. We live among its people now, hiding in plain sight, but watching over them in secret…waiting…protecting. I have witnessed their capacity for courage and though we are worlds apart, like us, there's more to them than meets the eye. I am Optimus Prime and I send this message to any surviving Autobots taking refuge among the stars. We are here. We are waiting."

The transmission ended. For a long moment, no mech spoke. The silence stretched. The quiet was eventually broken by Prowl's shifting, who was—no doubt—running his battle computer with several diagnostics on the next course of action.

"What happens now?" Jolt glanced at the source of the voice and saw that it was Sideswipe who had spoken. He was somewhat surprised to see the serious look on the mech's face. He was so used to seeing cocky and mischievous looks on the mech's face, that he sometimes forgot that he could be serious. Of course, that was completely unfair. He knew the reason that Sideswipe was always so cheerful was to ward away the serious and depressing thoughts caused by war.

"Prime sent out the message to call his troops to this new planet called Earth," Prowl spoke slowly. "It is my assumption that he wishes for us to regroup, to strengthen our numbers. Just because Megatron is offline," Jolt glanced up sharply at the Second in Command, remembering that significant detail. Of course Prowl hadn't forgotten. He took in everything, his battle computer was built for that kind of thing, "that does not necessarily mean the Decepticons will stop fighting. There are many Decepticons who would be willing to take the role of leadership for their own selfish means."

"Like that pipe sucking fragger Starscream," Sunstreaker muttered.

"Never did understand why he was Second in Command," Sideswipe answered just as lowly. "Wasn't he always trying to stab Megatron in the back?"

"Probably to keep a closer optic on him," Jolt added his opinion. "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer." Prowl frowned at their side conversation, but didn't say anything when he realized their attention was still focused on him.

"Our next course of action," he continued, "is to make our way to Earth as quickly as possible. Prime may be in need of our assistance." The mech's under his command all nodded sharply. Prowl returned the nod.

"Let us go."

Author's Note: Well, here's the first installment of Jolt's Untold Story! I asked you if you would be interested in seeing an origin story of Jolt—because, let's face it, that mech hardly gets any attention-and many of you said yes, so here it is! This is merely the prologue. The next chapter will go back in time and pretty much lead up to this point. The focus of this story will answer the question of why he joined the Autobots, why he became a medic, and why he is the way he is (why he isn't a social butterfly).

So leave a review and tell me what you think! Do you think Jolt should get more recognition? What are you looking forward to? What do you want to see? This story is all about answering your questions about Jolt's past, so take advantage of it! :D

The reader who leaves the longest review gets to spend the day with Sunstreaker!

Sunstreaker: I said no such thing tiny pathetic fleshing!

Sideswipe: Hey, what about me?

Hubero: Okay, fine. The reader who leaves the longest review gets to spend the day with Sunstreaker and Sideswipe.

Sideswipe: Much better.

Sunstreaker: Come here you little squishy!

Hubero: Ah! Prowl! Save me! *Runs away*
