Discarded

Discarded

Every night I whisper
My secrets to you
And every night you are smiling,
Your body paused in time

I keep a rose by my bed
To remind me of our special nights
And a napkin from our picnic times,
Memories worthless without your presence

My friends offer useless advice
To stop me from watching
The clock on the wall
And hearing your voice
Echoing in the hall

Days to months and months to years
No messages of you
Time was so meaningless and yet
I forgot the memoirs of you
With a rose and a napkin
I discarded you.
