"Stop it."

"Stop it!"

"STOP IT!"

Day in and day out he could hear her screams. Pain and sorrow echoed the those two words, so much that he felt his stone-cold heart break, just a little. Fake smiles and words of reassurance were a daily thing. When the group sat around the fire at night, just talking about little things, he would glare at her. They always sat across from each other, the fire separating them but he knew that she could feel his stare. Feel the disappointment in his heavy gaze.

"Stop it."

"Stop it!"

"STOP IT!"

She was broken, they all knew that, the state they had found her in showed that much. There were time, out of the blue, one of them would remember her tear-streaked face, torn clothes and blood staining her porcelain skin. It was a sad sight to find her laying in the rubble, staring up at the sky and waiting for death. It was as if she had lost the only thing keeping her grounded and alive, and in a way, she did. They had left her in the one state she wished to never return to.

"Stop it."

"Stop it!"

"STOP IT!"

It had taken a month to get her to open up. During that time, she had only said a few words here and there by everyone knew, especially their leader, that it was only a very small fraction of what she used to say in a day. It had taken double that time for her to crack a smile and even then it was fake and not even close to its usual brightness. Yet, it had taken a weight off the groups shoulders, no matter the fakeness. It was just a relief to see something that actually belonged on her.

"Stop it."

"Stop it!"

"STOP IT!"

Ten months. It has been ten months since she had joined their little group and ever so slowly, she was getting back to usual. Every day, her screams were getting softer and softer, the pain leaving them. She had apologized for the way she had been over time, telling them that she felt so indebted to them for taking her in. No one paid any mind. All they wanted was to see that smile, the real one, on her face again. It was just beneath the surface and they were all just waiting for it to show through, but he knew. He knew there was something holding her back and one night, as he lay in his tent trying to doze off, he found out the reason.

"Stop it."

"Stop it!"

"STOP IT!"

It was a disaster. At the official one year mark of everyone leaving her behind, the one that had one the most damage showed up again, acting as if nothing had changed. Everyone was angry at him, they had all grown fond of the girl overtime, even he himself found himself drawn to her. Everyone wanted to rip the asshole apart, but were stopped by her. She had smiled, a real, beautiful smile that only proved to anger them further by the fact that he made it show and not them. She had walked up to him, opened her arms, and he came running. Right into a foot in the face. Everyone was stumped for a moment as she kicked the shit out of him, unleashing all the pent up pain, sorrow and frustration on him. He deserved it. Then she had promptly told him that, well she did still love him because he was the one who brought her home, she had a new family. After that, she turned her back on her past and gave them all the brightest smile they had ever seen in their entire lives.

It was after that, one year and one day, Cobra had realized that he could no longer hear Lucy's screams anymore. Her soul didn't have any pain, no sorrow. Her soul sung a beautiful tune that he loved to listen to. It no longer screamed to 'Stop it', it simply told him that she would keep going.

This was a pretty spur of the moment thing, so I hope it's not too bad.
