One shot, very shot sequal to "Pericolo"... Think KC is on a bit of an angst kick tonight... Imma blame the wine...

Catherine Willows stood silently, surrounded by colleagues, friends and acquaintances. The words of the minister, though intending to comfort, merely served to widen the already gaping hole in her heart. She watched wordlessly as the wooden tomb that encased his broken body was lowered to its eternal resting place beneath the ground. Her numb fingers had released the blood red rose on command; her disbelieving eyes following its painfully slow progress before it came to rest on the wooden coffin that would forever occupy this space beneath the ground.

Once the dirt had been piled over the casket and the final prayers had been said, she felt Nick's gentle yet firm tug on her arm, willing her away from this place, away from the soul crushing sorrow she was experiencing. She had shrugged him off, conveying her reluctance to leave. Nick had taken one look at the battered expression reflected back from her crystal blue eyes, before he acquiesced, leaving her to wallow in her solitude.

When she was certain she was alone, she was no longer able to continue with her charade; she dropped to her knees in the dirt that encased his final resting place. Tears streamed down the porcelain skin of her cheeks as three words left her mouth, carried to the heavens on a gentle wisp of air.

"I love you."
