AC Adapter (Rated T)
"Give it back, Natsu," Gray ground out as he entered the living room where Lucy and Natsu were studying, his laptop in hands.
"Give what back?" the pinkette responded innocently. Suddenly, a large, frigid form blocked their lighting, making both teens look up.
"My AC adapter," Gray snapped.
"What the heck is an AC adapter?"
"It's the thing Gray plugs into his laptop to keep it charged," Lucy answered with a snicker. "I'm guessing his battery died and he can't find it to charge his laptop back up."
"Oh," Natsu replied. "That's what that thing was?"
Gray frowned as he set down his laptop. "What do you mean was?" Both Lucy and Natsu looked at Gray sheepishly, fidgeting as they did so.
"It…kinda had an…accident," stated the pinkette.
Narrowing his eyes at them, Gray gave them the most serious glare he could muster. "An accident?"
Whoa! I didn't know his face could get that red! Natsu exclaimed inside his head.
"It was all his fault!" Lucy accused, pointing at her best friend.
"Me? You were the one screaming 'Kill it! Kill it!' So why blame me?" retaliated Natsu.
"It's not like I asked you to go all ninja-like on the spider!"
"It whizzed past my head! What would you have done?!"
"Not smash it to death with Gray's AC adapter! You mutilated that more than the spider!"
"Hey! I—"
"Enough!" Gray roared, quieting them instantly. He pinched the bridge of his nose. Why did it always have to be a spider? If he could have his way, he'd have all arachnids exterminated. "Why do I even put up with you two?"
"Because you really, really love us?" Lucy offered as an answer.
Gray grunted and headed out of the room. "I'm going out to buy a new AC adapter."
"Okay. Bye!" called out Natsu.
"Ah!" Lucy shrieked.
Smash!
"What the heck was that for?" Natsu exclaimed, staring at the laptop that was now…deceased.
"There was another spider!" Seriously, was the whole apartment infested?
"Gray?" Natsu called out again. "You might want to pick up a new laptop, too."
Gray's horrified scream—or battle cry—was all they needed to know that running for their lives was probably a good option.
