Author's note:

After five years with nothing, I've finally brought myself to try to write fanfiction. I have to admit, I've never liked baseball before. But Oofuri has managed to make me love it somehow!I've never been a fan of stuff like BL either... So let's just say Oofuri has brought me over to the dark side. :D I've been trying to make three Oofuri fics but somehow got stuck somewhere in all three. Realizing that our favorite catcher's birthday is coming up, I've decided to work on a fourth fic first to celebrate it.

Alas! Here it is.. A personal challenge to myself for Abe's birthday. The first chapter of my first BL-ish fanfic. :D

Don't Say 'Its Not Important' by silverhaukea

CHAPTER 1: It's December.

'Ah, it's almost time to wake Ren up.' Mrs. Mihashi thought as she prepared her son's bento, knowing that the alarm clock alone would never wake him up.

Riiiing! Riiiing! Riiiing! Riiiing!

"Ah! There it goes!" she said while carefully wiping her hands on her apron. After which, she headed towards her son's room.

Riiiing! Riiiing! Riiiing! Rii— Thwack!

'Eh? That's strange.' She thought to herself as she stopped in front of her son's door.

'Ren woke up by himself!?'

"Ren!" she called out, slightly opening the door. "Are you awake?"

"Unn!" was her son's feeble and soft reply.

"Alright dear! I'll get your bath ready now, alright?" she said, closing the door once again. 'Hmm, I wonder why he's up so early…' she thought as she went to prepare her son's bath.

But the truth is her son did not wake up early. He just couldn't sleep at all. Despite being awake, Nishiura's pitcher remained in bed, hardly moving with his right arm over his forehead, his left hand clutching the alarm clock and half of his right leg slightly dangling at the side of his bed.

'I-I c-couldn't sleep at all.' he thought to himself, not moving a single inch. But knowing that he'd never get to sleep anymore at this rate, Mihashi slowly slid himself out of his bed. With his shoulders bent, he slowly made his way to his desk where a calendar hung on the wall by its side. He eventually stopped walking when the calendar was directly in front of him.

Updating the calendar was the first task of his daily routine. Noticing that November 30 had already been crossed out and realizing that there was no such thing as November 31, he sloppily tore the page of November out of the calendar.

Now it's December. Taking his marker from his desk, he proceeds to make a big 'X' over a mark-less December 1.

'Nothing special today.' He thought, as a huge mark on the other side of the calendar was caught by the periphery of his eye. Slightly moving his head to see it clearly, his faced flushed as his eyes focused on the thing that caught his attention.

December 11. The day was enclosed with a double-lined heart shape and marked with an illegible and sloppily written note. Looking at it, Mihashi slowly remembered why he couldn't sleep a wink.

December 11. THIS was why he couldn't sleep at all. Not just last night but also the night before that. It was all because Tajima had to write THAT two days ago.

The double-lined heart shape… and a sloppily written note saying,

ABE TAKAYA'S BIRTHDAY.

A/N: So there goes chapter 1! Yes. It is ALSO December 1 today. Hopefully I do finish this in time for December 11. Please R&R! It's been a long time since I've last written anything so please be gentle! :D
