Disclaimer: Not my boys (or Sabriel would exist!), just my story.
Summary: How Sam would handle Gabriel dead. Warning: Sabriel!
- Side note, I'm currently working on two multi-chapter stories, sorry for all the one-shots!
Heartbeat
Sam looked down at Gabriel's eyes, the light gold reflecting crystal flakes. His eyes moved to the archangels hair, so soft. Auburn stands playing freely in the slight breeze. His lips, formed and cotton candy sweet. Sam smiled and laid a tender kiss to his lovers forehead. The hunters love for Gabriel scorched his veins and arteries. It illuminated Sam's eyes and put a skip in his step.
Sam's eyes drifted back to the angel. He laid a gentle hand over Gabriel's heart. Sam listened to the beat under his fingertips. Sam ran a hand over Gabriel's wings, imprinted on the floor. The pulse from his heart never came. Sam reached out and closed to eyelids of a lifeless life and man. Wetness left a trail down Gabriel's cheek, his lovers pain. Each of Sam's salty tears was another second he would never hear the archangels laugh, see his smile, feel his embrace. "You can't leave me here, you promised you would come back." The angel didn't stir. "You promise-" Sam's voice broke with a muffled sob. He pulled the archangel against his chest and let his pain fall into his beautiful bloodstained hair.
Gabriel laid a hand on Sam's shoulder. "Sam look at me." But the hunter couldn't hear him, couldn't feel the conforting hand. There wasn't a hand, only a ghostly memory. Gabriel angrily moved to kneel in front on the hunter. "Look at me!" Sam stared at the soulless body in his arms. He hadn't any idea of the helpless man begging for his attention. "I'm here Sammy, don't cry I'm here I'm here I'm here. Sam look at me. LOOK AT ME!" He could scream forever. An angel ghost wasn't like a regular vengeful spirit. They couldn't be seen by mortals. "Sam..." It was broken, useless attempt. The archangel knew it. So he stood back and watched. Watched Sam's tears, watched Sam's cries, watched Sam's scream of pure agony until Gabriel couldn't take it any longer. He left for Heaven. Sam would move on, his life was better off without him. Sam knew the truth, felt the hollowness inside. He got up and walked over to the kitchen in the small apartment Gabriel was staying in. Lifting the instrument, Sam walked to where the other angels had killed his lover out of spite. Holding the blade above his head it fell. Breaking penetrable skin filling a hallow body. Only one tear escaped. It was not for sorrow but for joy. He would be reunited with his angel once again. Gabriel turned and saw Sam standing behind him. "Gabe..." He embraced the angel. "Now we can be together."
That was how Dean found his brother. Dead over a lifeless body; at peace. "CAS!" Castiel looked to Dean the disappeared. Dean held is brothers head in his lap, stroking his hair and telling him to come back. Suddenly, Sam's eyes flew open and he gasped like he was choking. "Gabriel?" He looked down to his lover, a horrified look crossed his face. Dean was smiling at him, "We were looking everywhere! It's okay Sam-"
"NO!" Castiel now stood in the doorway, gaze expressionless to the men in front of him. "Send me back! Send me back!" Sam stood and was yelling at the angel and the eldest Winchester. Sam reached for the knife again but suddenly it was gone from his grasp, courtesy of Castiel. Sam looked pleading at Dean, then the angel. He laid his head over Gabriel's beat-less heart. "Send me back...let me die."
