Hermione walked down the stone stairs, straight into the Slytherin common room. With sparkling, brown eyes, big smile on her face and a green sweatshirt with a Slytherin logo on it she entered the room and looked around. Students were gathered in the corners, some relaxing and some studying. Many were sitting on the floor practicing charms, their wands sparkling. A group of first-year students was playing some strategic game near the entrance, whispering something furiously. The middle of the room, however, was almost empty. Only a couch and an armchair were occupied by three Slytherin boys. Hermione, without hesitation, started walking in that direction, and after reaching her destination she, rather ungracefully, sat on the couch between her boyfriend and best friend.
"Look who finally showed up" said Blaise looking up from his book. "Took you long enough." He looked at her suggestively, the corner of his mouth lifting upwards.
"Not my fault I had to shower" replied Hermione, pointedly looking at Theo. He was pretending not to be listening, but his flushing cheeks were betraying him. He stared at his textbook, but the smile forming on his face was hard to miss. Hermione rolled her eyes and lied her head on his arm, trying to see what he was studying. After reading just a few sentences she signed loudly.
"Boring" she complained. "Why do you even bother reading it? You know it already."
"That's what I said" a muffled voice coming from the armchair said. Opposite to the couch, lying on the velvet armchair was Draco Malfoy. His head and legs were hanging in the air on the opposite sides of the armchair and his arm was covering his whole face. He moved it so he could see Hermione, his eyes narrowed because of the light.
"Green doesn't suite you by the way" he stated. "You look like a toad"
Hermione showed him her tongue, and he smirked at her childlike behaviour before returning to his primary position.
"Don't exaggerate Draco" said Blaise with a smile. "At most she looks like a little frog". Not a second after he said that Hermione hit him in his arm. Blaise turned to her with a pained expression, and more for the sake of being dramatic than actually hurting started massaging his arm. Hermione just rolled her eyes, and he smiled happily not being able to put his act for too long.
"Don't worry" said Nott turning his face to her. "You look beautiful as always."
After he made this statement a pretended sound of vomiting could be heard coming from the armchair. Theo, not even looking up, threw a pillow at Draco.
"There is even this superstition…" he continued, ignoring furious looks coming from the irritated friend "when one kisses a frog it is supposed to change into a princess" he finished with a smirk.
"Just cut the bullshit and kiss her" said Blaise rolling his eyes, not even looking up from his book.
Nott didn't have to be told twice. He leaned towards Hermione, took her face in his hands and kissed her, slowly closing his eyes. He could feel her lips forming into a sweet smile as he did all those things.
Draco looked at his best friend, with a small smile on his face. Happy that Theo found the person that could truly make him feel so lucky. He spared one last glance at the pair, trying to capture the moment, before exclaiming loudly in his best snarky voice "Uh, get a room…". After all he had his appearances to keep up.
