Introduction
I am Rowan Howard, Chief Librarian of Aelfrin. I recently found a stack of old journals in a restricted section of the library. As I browse the pages of these ancient tomes, I have realized that these are none other than the fabled Lost Records, the private diaries of Aelfrin's founders. These are the oldest surviving books known to the three races, believed lost for nearly five millenia.
In these diaries are eye-witness accounts of the deaths of untold millions of innocent bystanders. My heart weeps for those who fell in the ancient days, so tomorrow I will begin a new work: I will compile these journals into a single volume, and send it through the Kronos Pool back to the early days of the World War out of which Aelfrin was born, in hopes that the innocent humans of the time will find it and be prepared for the oncoming slaughter.
