My life before becoming a popstar was pretty average. I was your normal 17 year old girl, who loved to sing and dance and was obsessed with who was dating who in the celebrity world. I'm pretty sure it was every girl's dream to become the next Britney Spears, that's why when I told my parents this they didn't put much thought into it.

"You can't just become famous; you have to work hard for it, Janie." My mum would say. "Maybe if you would've started dancing or singing lessons at a young age then maybe you would be good enough. Right now, just focus on your grades." My dad would always put in.

So of course, you had to go along and believe them because they were right; you just can't become famous overnight. So I put that dream in the back of my head and focused on school and always remembered that it would always be, 'just a dream'.

But that changed. It was a normal Sunday when I was at Church singing with the choir. I was really enthusiastic because I, well, always am. But for some reason I forgot when the song ended and so when they rest of the choir stopped, I can't singing. It was quite embarrassing as I remember it. Everyone stared at me, some laughed, but then everyone applauded. I started to smile really wide because that is what I do when I'm nervous. Right then, a man in a black suit that looked really expensive, probably Armani, coughed really loud and stared and me. I just forgot about it. After church was finished I was walking out with my parents when the same man who coughed practically jumped in front of me and my parents and reached out his hand that held out a card.

"Jeff Jones, Executive Producer of Virgin Records." He said. We just stood there and watched him. What did he want from us? I thought. Maybe he's just trying to sell us some CD to try and get his client out there.

My dad took the card from Jeff and shook his hand. "Uh, may I help you Mr. Jones?"

"Why yes, you most certainly can help me." Jeff said with a big grin on his face. "Your daughter, she has talent, and I would like to sign her with Virgin Records."

And that was all he had to say, because from then on, it was all a blur.
