1630 Revello Drive

Darkness loomed in the sky, casting over Sunnydale, California since the Vampire Slayer was resurrected from the depths of the Heaven and Earth.

Everyday life has become dwindled since most of the small town population escaped in early autumn sensing something much worse than anything that haunted the town was approaching.

At the Summers residence, life had not lost its chaos since the home was filled with young teenage girls. The Potential Slayer's kept the seemingly quiet home alive.

Inside the house was one vengeance demon, a rehabilitated witch, a middle aged ex-Watcher, an ex-Universe-destroying-mystical-Key, a construction worker, a 'hostage', a Billy Idol-soul having vampire, and the Vampire Slayer.

Sleep was a rarity in this household which laid on top of a Hellmouth only miles away.

In the living room, the Potential's sat in the living room wide awake as usual.

They eyed each other with deep confusion and annoyance.

"I can't believe she just skipped out on us just like that." Rona whined sitting on the couch folding her arms across her body. "It's like she doesn't even care about us at all or what's going on! The First is gonna come in here and take us out one by one."

"Oh, she cares." Andrew said sitting in the corner of the living room staring at the wall.

"Yeah." Kennedy said looking at Rona ignoring the geeky hostage. "Our only protection decided that now was the best time for a mini vacation."

"I don't know. " Vi began, "Maybe she really needed it." It was a blessing and a curse for the young redhead to posses so much empathy for others. "She always seems so depressed. Maybe this will make her, I don't know… Nicer?"

Molly nodded her head thoughtfully. "I don't think I've ever seen her smile."

Kennedy leaned forward resting her elbows on her knees and bit her cheek into a half smile. "You know what we'll should do?" The teens stared at her blankly. Kennedy stood without another word moving towards the stairs.

"Uh, where are you going?" Rona followed the brunette.

"I'm going to get some real information in the only place where real information exists… the bedroom."

"I'm coming with you." Rona followed Kennedy up the stairs,

Vi sat back beside Molly and frowned looking at the other potentials. "W-we should just wait here, I guess." She said lamely setting her back against the couch and stared at her hands nervously.

The hallway was dark and silent. Kennedy hushed her finger over her lip looking at Rona as they quietly tiptoed down the hallway towards Buffy's bedroom door.

Standing outside of the white door, Kennedy took a deep breath and turned the doorknob opening the door.

Rona for a moment imagined the bedroom to be a whole other world. But really it was just a plain bedroom. The bedcovers were slightly wrinkled from the last time they were slept in. Clothes folded neatly on top of a chair and the closet wardrobe door slightly opened. The bedroom was dark only lit by the illuminance of the moon from the window.

Kennedy switched on a lamp on the nightstand and eyed the items on top of the smooth surface. She picked up a photograph of Willow, Buffy, and Xander laughing on the grass hanging on top of one another. She ran a finger over Willow's face then placed the photo back down.

Behind her, Rona opened the drawers of Buffy's dressers and carefully rummaged her hand through the folded clothes for something… anything.

"What are we even looking for?" She asked Kennedy over her shoulder.

"I don't know." Kennedy answered. "Anything. I mean the point of this snooping around is to learn more about our 'saviour' right?"

Rona turned her back moving to the desk with a large mirror attached to it and opened the drawers. The top drawer was filled with beauty products dating back to 1996. The bottom drawer was filled with Holy Water, sharp stakes and a velvet necklace case.

"Score." Kennedy said taking out an old beaten up leather bound journal from the nightstand drawer. It was tucked under a dated Sassy magazine, a first edition of book of 'Sonnets from the Portuguese', and other various fashion magazines when Kennedy noticed an old journal with pages popping out from the seams.

"Did you find something?" Rona crossed the room to her.

"I think so." Kennedy smiled holding the tattered journal in her hands.

Molly stared down at the journal with high confused brows. "What do you want us to do with it?"

"Read it." Kennedy said with a hint of sarcasm. "This is the jackpot ladies. You want to know what's going on in our Commodore's head… well, it's in this. It has to be." Kennedy held the journal in her hand. "I mean, c'mon. Look at it. It's Buffy's journal. Her diary. Where she keeps all of her deep and darkest secrets. Whatever it may be… it's in here."

Vi shook her head sitting in the background on the floor. "I don't know about this."

"Come on. You know you want to know. And you can hear it in her own words right here." Kennedy raised her brow as she gathered the rooms interest even insecure Vi's interest.

"Fine." Molly said sitting down on the couch beside Rona. "Read it."

Kennedy smirked, "Don't mind if I do." she sat down on the the coffee table opening the journal in her hands when a polaroid fell out from the first page.

Kennedy picked up the polaroid on the floor between her feet. She read the back aloud. "Me, Mom, and Dad, 1985. Five years old." She turned it over and it was photo of a small blonde hair girl in the arms of her adoring parents grinning at the camera.

"Cute." Rona said looking over Kennedy's shoulder at the polaroid then watched her as she passed it along to the other Potential Slayer's surrounding them.

Kennedy opened the page of the journal and cleared her throat. "Here we go. February 17th, 1996. Mom and Dad are fighting again. It's gotten worse since - well, since the last time they argued which was about me and Tyler. I wish they would just get a divorce - No. No. I can't think like that. It's too gruesome…"

"… I mean who was Dad kidding. It's no secret he's been screwing around. I bet it's with his secretary oh-what's-her-face… Really, what business trip is like three months long?! As if!" Buffy looked up from her journal and eyed the polaroid of her parents and herself when she was little girl for a moment.

"I had the weirdest day today." She wrote vigorously. "After Tyler asked me to Homecoming; which is only proper for the King and Queen to go together, Duh! I was approached by this really old creepy man claiming to be apart of some sort of Watcher's Council whatever that is. Come to think of it, I think he was hitting on me - Anyways… He kept going on and on about vampires and demons and blah, blah, blah totally unnatural. I mean, how wiggy is that? Like, what's a Slayer?"

Kennedy looked from the journal with a half smile. "Can anyone say Valley Girl?" She got a few chuckles.

As Molly looked at crossed her legs thoughtfully. "She was called that day." Kennedy and the others looked at the British brunette piecing together the entry to Buffy's calling. "Keep reading, please."

Kennedy did not waste anymore time on the first entry and skipped ahead a few more pages to February 24th, 1996.

February 24th, 1996

"When I can't think it can get any worse… the worse keeps on coming. I was expelled from school today. I'm pretty sure I'm going to be thrown back into the looney bin after what's happened. I burned down the school gym. God - I can't even - I burned down the gym! Granted I had no other choice, it was filled with vampires - and - and if I didn't well… let's just say burning down the gym was the best case scenario." Buffy looked from her journal and stood up from the bed crossing the bedroom to the door.

She poked her head out into the hallway, enough not be seen by her parents arguing down the hall in the master bedroom. Buffy watched as her father, Hank moved around the bedroom stuffing a duffle bag with his clothes while her mother stood in the background enraged but did nothing.

They fought of what to do with their criminal daughter. She was obviously finished at Hemery and probably any other school in the Los Angeles area.

Buffy stepped back into her room and sat on the bed.

"… Mom is convinced that I just fell into the 'bad crowd' like I'm a living tale of West Side Story and drug gangs. Dad won't even look at me. It's obvious that I'm a complete embarrassment ruining his perfect picture of… everything. That's probably why he's skipping out on us with his secretary…"
