This is like set just before AC... And I know its like really short but I'm really bad at coming up with ideas and this is the only thing I could think of... Please no flames..
Oh and I don't own these characters or anything.. Just the story...
She walked up to his room. It was also the guest room because he was rarely there. She always found herself walking there when she felt lonely or she needed to think. She would sit down on his bed, breathing in the familiar scent and would look at the picture by the bedside. The picture of the two of them and the children. She wished that the children were there with her, then she could busy herself and wouldn't be able to think as much. Unfortunately they were staying with friends.
But today she couldn't bring herself to go in. She couldn't because everything about him today just made her upset. So instead she just stood at the open door looking at her surroundings, thinking. Seven years ago today, they made a promise to each other that she only hoped he would keep forever.
"Why are you standing here alone?"
She turned to look at him, with a few tears in her eyes. She didn't want to tell him the truth. The truth that she knew he was not happy, that she knew he was not ready to move on from her. The reason for the tears in her eyes. She just hoped he wouldn't notice. She forced a small smile. Crying just came so easily to her these days.
"No reason."
They both stood there in silence. An almost awkward silence but at the same time it was a comfortable. It felt like they didn't have to say anything but she still wanted to.
"Do you know what day it is?" She said, breaking the silence.
He took in a short breath before saying, "The day we made that promise at the well, it was seven years ago today right?"
"Yeah.." She said, the tears leaking onto her pretty face. She just couldn't hold them in any longer.
"That day, I also made a promise with myself, a promise that I would do anything I could to impress you, to protect you, but as the days went on I found that was harder to do.. Because I wasn't who I aimed to be, who you thought I would be.."
She looked at him, expecting him to say more. He continued.
"I always felt that no matter what happened, I would keep that promise, but I'm not fit to help anyone.. Not even myself.." He looked down at his Geostigma.
"I can't do this. I'm sorry, Tifa.." He walked away.
"Don't go!" She found herself shouting, her voice hysterical.
The sound of the door closed behind him.
"I love you, Cloud… Please don't go.."
