My name is Chloe Taylor. And i cant sleep, I never have been able to. today is my first day at Waterloo road school, in year 12. My parents and I just moved here from Hong Kong. I used to live in England. But we moved because of my dads job. now we've moved back again. Even so, it's my first time in and English school. Not that I'm nervous or anything.

When I arrived at school I was given a timetable and told to go to my form room. So I did. As usual I was really early. There were a couple of other girls already in there, chatting animatedly about something or other. Catching up, I noted. Reminding me that I didn't know anyone. Then I noticed a guy with dark hair listening to his iPod at a desk at the far left of the room. I decided that it would be easier to make conversation with him than the screeching girls so I made my way over to him. Obviously it had nothing to do with the fact that he was extremely cute.

I carefully slid into the chair next to him and he pulled one headphone out of his ear, turning towards me.

"Hey" I said. "I'm Chloe. Chloe Taylor"

"Finn Sharkey" he replied. "Are you new here?" he asked

"Yeah. I just moved from Hong Kong"

"You don't look Chinese or nothing" he said.

"I'm not. My dad moved there on business"

"Ah right" he replied. "So you'll be needing someone to show you around then" he said, winking.

"Perhaps" I replied. I was about to say more, but I was interrupted by a voice at the front of the room.

"Mr Sharkey" it began "Charming as it is that you are getting to known the latest addition to the school, it would be wonderful if you could be quiet for the duration of registration"

"But, Sir, I was just" he started, but was cut off by the man at the front.

"Zip it, Sharkey" the teacher barked.

I tried to stifle my laughter as Finn mimed zipping up his lips and then flinging an imaginary key to the back of the classroom. Said teacher merely raised his eyebrows and said

"If we could now move on from that rather annoying interlude the it would be wonderful"

Much to the teachers approval, we stayed quiet for the rest of registration.

Finn had a free next, but I had double chemistry, so I made towards the door. As I reached it I glanced backwards over my shoulder and he winked at me.

"Lunch" he mouthed.

I nodded in agreement and smiled inwardly as I walked along the corridor. Perhaps this wasn't going to be as bad as I thought it was going to be.
