As I fixed that one flower out of place, I was thinking of my wedding just 9 years ago. Alice dressed me as Rose did my hair. I remember seeing Edward beneath this same archway. He was so stunning. His white marble skin shining from all the lights. His bright, topaz, eyes. (He went hunting the night before.) Any other day I would feel out of place. But not that day. I was some puny little human while he was a handsome big strong (I could go on) vampire. But that all changed a month and a half later. I had a beautiful, little, half vampire, half human, daughter, Renesmee. It scared us all at the pace she was growing!
She almost sucked the life out of me. But I didn't care as long as she lived. I started to die and Edward stuck his venom in me. Two long days later I was one of him. Also all of his family. Now we were even. Whole. As one. Renesmee grew fast. Just as we expected, she was fully grown by the age of seven.
Since my best friend/werewolf has imprinted on her, he intends to marry her. Jacob Black and Renesmee Cullen. We have been friends since we were small. We made mud pies when we were both young humans.
After everything we went through, he was still there. Through me becoming a vampire, Renesmee growing up, them moving out. Jake was there. Edward says he owes him his life. Sometimes (when he's himself), when I see how happy he makes Nessie, I think maybe I do too!
"Are you ready?" Edward asks, moving at his in-human speed, wrapping his arms around my waist. He leans over and kisses my neck, then my lips. He removes a hand and cradles my face. Once he pulls back he stares into my eyes. I know, out of anybody, he's trying to read my mind. I put up my shield so he can't. I prefer my thoughts to myself.
"Why?" he asks. Now cradling my face with both hands. I knew what he meant. "You know." I informed him. I gave him a quick kiss. "I really don't like people in my head. Since I can control it I will. You want to know……ask." I continued. He dropped my face and grabbed my hand. He kissed each fingers and then my ring as he's done many times before. Then looks up and kisses me passionately. We stood there for at least five minutes until I had to be the bad guy and pulled away.
I released my shield. I thought, I didn't mean to hurt you. I love you. Don't forget. I just like my mind private. The whole time Edward was staring into my topaz eyes.
"No Bella, love. Don't apologize. I should be apologizing. Isabella Marie Cullen, I am sorry for being inconsiderate. I am just used to reading everybody's mind. But that's no excuse. I love you, too. You should know that." Edward said rubbing two fingers down my cheek.
"I know I just like to hear it." I say smirking. I pull him away and rethink what I was thinking about as we leave. Whenever I got to the Volturi, Edward went stiff by my side. Don't worry it's over now. I thought and he just hugged me tighter.
"Where have you been? Ceremony starts in an hour! And tha-" Alice stops as Edward puts up his hand and says, "Everything's fine. Archway perfect thanks to Bella. Rose and Esme have the guest under cover. Carlisle has the pastor. Jazz and Em are helping Jake. Renee and you two need to help Renesmee. I'll be up in 45 minutes." Alice is just dazed. I give Edward a quick kiss; look down at my gift from Jacob and Edward around my wrist, put on shield, and tows Alice upstairs.
I find Renee trying to help Nessie. She is being really difficult. "Mom, tell grandma I am NOT wearing my hair like that. It is so 1950's. UGH!" Renesmee says narrowly missing Renee's attempt to grab her. I sighed while Alice was actually laughing!
