It was a busy day at work for Chloe. She was a pediatric nurse at Barden hospital close by. At 25 years old she already had everything she could want in life. A great job that she enjoyed, a beautiful house and two beautiful girlfriends. But, that night was the night everything was going to change. A phone call would change the way she lived for the rest of her life. On her way home from work that night her phone started to play that obnoxious ringtone Beca changed it to began to go off. She ignored it, as she was driving, but the ringing would not stop. Eventually, she pulled over to answer it.
"Hello?" She answered
"Hello, we are looking for Chloe Beale."
"This is her."
"It is my regret to inform you that your mother had passed away this morning at Rockland Hospital in New York. She suffered an undiagnosed heart condition which lead to cardiac arrest. I am sorry for your loss."
"Thank you for telling me." Chloe replied. "I'll be down in a couple of days in order to make arrangements. Have a goodnight."
"You too." The line replied before Chloe hung up.
Chloe had been close to her mother. She was glad she pulled over. She couldn't drive at the moment. She could only be lost in thought. Soon she was disrupted by several calls from her girlfriends. She picked up and stated that she was on her way home. She couldn't tell them how much she was hurting. When she got home, her sisters were sitting on the couch waiting for her.
"Hey chlo" Beca greeted
"Hey babe" Aubrey chimed in
They could see the tears in her eyes immediately and asked what was wrong
"Guys, my mom passed away this morning." Chloe said while falling on the couch to be with both of them. They took care of Chloe last year when her dad had died of cancer. They knew what to do. They layed with her for a while. Combing their fingers through her hair and rubbing circles on her back. After about an hour, Beca broke the silence.
"How is Joddie?" Jodelle was Chloe's sixteen year old sister. She was quiet, played in a drumline for the schools marching band, played a bit of guitar and focused on school work. she never had gotten into any trouble in her life. They all called her Joddie as a nickname.
"Oh my god. Oh my god." Chloe replied
"What is it?" Aubrey asked
"I haven't even called her and I know that the will lists me as her legal guardian in case if anything like this happened. We had a long talk about this when dad died. I don't know how to raise a teenager." Chloe rambled on
"Babe" Aubrey interrupted, "You and I both know that Jodelle doesn't need to be raised. She's a young mature adult."
Then beca joined the conversation. "Come on Cloe, the kid has never been in trouble in her life. We got this. All three of us got this,"
