Harry and Ron were walking up the stairs towards the Gryffindor common room after Hermione had finished yelling at Ron. 'Balderdash' harry muttered, the portrait of the fat lady swung open and the two boys walked in and flopped down on the two comfy chairs by the fire.
After five minutes of complete silence harry stood up and muttered 'I'm going to bed.'
Ron replied with a small nod to show that he had heard.
It was nearly two am and most of the students had gone to bed, but Ron sat silently on the chair waiting for Hermione to come in so he could apologize. It was just after two thirty when she finally came in. Ron stood up and started to try and apologize but Hermione just ignored him and walked up to her dormitory. Ron stood up and began to run up the steps to the girls dormitory but was thrown back down onto the floor.
'Bloody hell' he muttered. 'Why did I have to be such a pig to her?' he thought.
'Pig' he whispered to himself Pig of course!'
He jumped to his feet and ran to the owlery to find his small owl pigwidgeon. He grabbed the owl and sprinted back to the Gryffindor common room and scrawled a note saying:
Hermione,
Please come down to the common room, I NEED to talk to you!
Ron.
He tied the note to his owl and sent him up to Hermione. Five minutes past and Ron was starting to walk towards the boys dormitory stairs but he stopped at the sight of Hermione. Her eyes were red and puffy and her hair had gone back to its original frizzy state. She just stood there with her hands on her hips waiting for Ron to speak.
'So I'm guessing you want to know why I was being such a git?' he asked.
Hermione just looked down at her feet. Ron began again
'Um, well, I, ughh, Hermione, I like you alright. I wanted to ask you to the Yule ball but I was afraid you would say no, and if you said no it would ruin our friendship!'
He sighed then flopped down on the couch and to his surprise Hermione sat down next to him.
'and then I saw you at the ball with Krum and I, I just snapped.' Unsure of what to say, Hermione reached over, grabbed Ron's hand and slotted her fingers between his. Ron looked up at her trying to catch her eye, but she just sat there staring into the fire. She let go of his hand and rested her head on his shoulder. He could feel her tears making a wet spot on his shoulder, but he didn't mind. 'I'm sorry' he whispered stroking her hair.
'It's ok' she said.
'No Hermione, its not ok, I acted like a total git!
'Ron, its fine, don't worry about it!' she said sitting up straight.
'Hermione, I was…' he was cut off by Hermione leaning over to him and kissing him full on the mouth. She could feel Ron smile against her lips. Hermione stood up breaking the kiss, Ron looked up at her confused.
'Night Ron' she said making her way over to the stairs.
'Wait, Hermione' he said jumping to his feet. She turned around to see a freckly ginger boy standing right in front of her.
'What does this mean?' he asked looking down in to her big chocolate brown eyes.
'We'll wait until the tri-wizard tournament is finished and work it out from there, ok?' she replied
'Ok' he said smiling.
'Well, goodnight then' she said turning around to face the staircase, but stopped when she realised that Ron had grabbed her arm. She turned back around to Ron who caught her by surprise and kissed her. She took a second to realise what was going on then wrapped her arms around his neck and continued to kiss him, Ron slowly pulled away and whispered 'night'.
