Caught in the Crossfire

Summary: Different ending to 'The Dearly Beloved'

When Marissa screeched her car to a halt she heard the sound of fighting going on in Trey's apartment. She raced toward the opened apartment door, passing the Cohen's car that she knew Ryan had driven to get there.

Once she got to the door she quickly glanced around and saw the mess that the boys had made during the fight and then looked to Trey on top of Ryan, choking him to death. Marissa began to panic.

"Oh my god! Stop it!" she yelled at Trey, "Trey, stop it! You're killing him! You're killing him!" she cried and came over and started beating Trey's back to get him to stop.

"Get off!" Trey growled and whipped around and hit her arm hard.

Marissa gasped at Trey's attack and backed away.

Ryan took the advantage of Trey's distraction and punched him in the face. Trey fell to the side, letting Ryan get up and have his turn at kicking some ass.

However, when Trey fell to the side he took the opportunity to grab the gun back in his hands. Trey raised the gun to aim at Ryan but didn't get the chance to fire since Ryan started attacking again.

"Guys stop it!" Marissa shouted in the background.

Both Ryan and Trey didn't listen and continued to fight, with Trey still holding the gun.

With all Trey's strength he lifted the gun and fired.

Ryan and Trey stopped fighting when they heard Marissa gasp behind them.

Marissa was standing by the doorway and holding her left side. She took her hand off her side and looked down to see her shirt was stained and her hands were covered in blood. She looked up at the two brothers, gazing at them pale as a ghost.

Staring at Marissa, Trey gulped and let the gun slip out of his fingers and let it fall to the ground. Ryan just stood still, watching Marissa in pain.

She felt light headed and weak. Marissa backed away and ran into the wall behind her. She slowly slide down to the ground.

"No!" Ryan finally snapped out of his daze and got up and rushed to Marissa's side, "Marissa?"

Marissa was breathing heavily from shock. She looked up into Ryan's eyes with fear, "I…it wasn't suppose… to be this way." she whispered in between sobs.

"Just stay awake…okay? Don't close your eyes…" Ryan said as he looked from her face to her stained shirt.

"It's…its too hard…" she mumbled.

"Please, please you have to…you--" Ryan begged, as he saw her slowly close her eyes and sit still, leaning half up against the wall and half against him.

Seth and Summer ran in too late. They surveyed the damage done to the apartment around them. Seth looked over and saw Trey sitting in the same position he was, with the gun sitting next to him.

"Oh my god…" Summer mumbled as she looked at Marissa and Ryan together.

Ryan ignored Seth and Summer and kept his eyes on Marissa, "Marissa…?" he whispered quietly. "Marissa…Marissa….Marissa?" he tried every few seconds but got no response every time.
