Prologue

Diana froze, hesitant, her gun meters away. Every red eye was trained on her, one bad move, one misstep, and it would be the end for her. She weighed her options, she could attempt to dart forward, but it could mean her untimely death. It's easier to hit a target moving closer to you then away. The amount of room on either of her sides was limited, her left side more so. If she could just manage, maybe use a desk for cover? No the weapons her enemies had, she took a quick glance to the array of armory aimed at her. They appeared to carry a good punch behind them, a desk would be nothing. The distance between her, the wall, and from the wall to her sole weapon... She could use that though, she was running out of time, and needed to do something. Maybe, just maybe they were talkative. "Parley?" She chuckled, slowly raising her hands in the air in mock surrender.

"We don't converse with pests." she assumed was the leader growled. She flinched as she heard the first click, she shifted and darted to her left. She managed the move faster than the gunfire, only barely, throwing her weight, she ran to the wall. Continuing momentum to land a couple of steps and run along the wall, then pushed off with all her force. She slid, gunfire behind her, sliding into and past her gun. Without her training, it would have been just a blur, without her training she'd be dead. She had managed to pick out the positioning of each enemy, just barely.

Having picked up her weapon, she managed to get to her feet for but a moment before throwing herself back, avoiding a shot that would have no doubt been the end for her. She picked out her targets, and let loose her own short stream of gunfire. She aimed for the eyes, two fell, eyes blinking out of existence, a third was hurt, but not dead as the enemy crumpled forward, howling in pain. The weapon the third had held clattered to the ground, another click of a trigger to her right caused her to dart forward in a attempt to avoid the shot meant to kill her. There was a thunder of steps, and before she could regain a semblance of balance, she was kicked backwards. Slamming into the wall, which was a few meters behind just seconds before.

Diana let out a gasp, pain shooting through her back, reverberating through her skeleton. A giant foot came down on her leg, crushing and destroying it. She screamed in agony, guttural and high in pitch. Her system hadn't a chance to turn off the pain, every receptor howled in pain. There was a chortle from the enemy who crushed her leg, she dared to look up. Her gaze was greeted by a gun barrel aimed for her head. It took a bit of time before she could no longer feel the loss of her leg.

"Say your goodbyes to your pet. Whatever it is." he growled, aiming the comment behind him. There was a whining noise as the gun began to charge, and Diana could catch just barely make out the gazes of her comrades around the giant foot. Her creator and caretaker stared back, one of them was spitting words, threatening to kill everyone, the other, stared at her. It meant something, and its meaning was a harsh one. "I love you." she mouthed towards them, a tear in her eye.

Diana closed her eyes, as the gun discharged.
