So since I got such nice feedback on my first fanfiction here, I thought I'd give you all something else to read while I continue thinking of more ideas for this fandom. Please enjoy and thanks for all the lovely reviews!

Advantage

Mika curled into a ball in one of the many streets, despite knowing that he should be getting home. It just hurt so much, a different kind of pain than the daily donations that they had to make in compensation for the vampires protection.

Yu must be panicking by now at how long I've been gone…

He hadn't told anyone where he was going; just that he had needed to pick something up before heading back home. It was just supposed to be a quick visit, but those hours that stretched by were torture. He touched the skin that had been bitten into, wincing as it felt tender. He pulled his hand away to see that the wound was still bleeding a bit.

Hopefully it'll stop by the time I get back… that last thing I need is questions.

He pulled the collar of his shirt closer to the wound, hoping that it might help to clot the blood and stop the bleeding. Mika thought over what Ferid had told him, not quite sure if he believed him right now.

"You can have anything you want if you serve me."

Yeah right. So far I wonder if the risk is worth it…

He thought back to his family and the small dwelling that had become their house. There wasn't much in the house and life was hard. Despite being, 'taken care of' the vampires didn't give them much to live off of. He winced as he stood up; deciding that if he had time to think then he might as well walk home as well.

I can use this… He thought before leaning against the wall of a building for help, pushing himself slowly towards home.

If I can use this to help my family, then it will all be worth it. All the pain and suffering, if it's to help them…

He thought about the ways he could test what Ferid said, he would start asking for small stuff. More food and some medicine, and then try more important things.

And then just maybe… He dared to hope.

Yu had said that he would eventually find a way to kill the vampires despite how hopeless the situation seemed. But it gave Mika and the other kids hope, one for which Mika was grateful. It made life seem less depressing if they thought of a way they could get out and live together.

I can help Yu find a way to kill them.
