Short one shot for my lovely Beta Aveline Archer. Hope you enjoy it love. Sorry I couldn't make it longer. Thanks for everything. Everyone please read and review...
Mary Rhodes' brown eyes scanned the room she had just walked into. She had just finished work at SHIELD Headquarters. She half expected him to be doing push ups in the corner of the living room he had set up with his gym equipment.
That was far from what she had come home too.
There was music playing softly in the background. It sounded like some soppy love song from the 1930's. She could smell something delicious cooking. The more Mary inhaled the smell, the more her mouth watered. She made her way towards the kitchen, stopping in the dining room when she saw how the table had been set up.
There was a single rose in a vase in the middle of the table. The plates and cutlery was perfectly placed on the table. There were also wine glasses. They must have been brought today because before now Mary and her fiancée didn't own a single wine glass.
She smiled making her way into the kitchen seeing her fiancée, Steve Rogers AKA Captain America, cooking dinner. The smell made her mouth water. She walked up behind him and wrapped her arms around his waist. "That smells so good."
"That's a good sign. It's the first time I've cooked ravioli." He told her.
She kissed his back through his shirt. "I'm sure it will taste great."
He turned around and faced her, giving her a sweet peck on the lips. "How about you go and have a quick shower, get into something more comfortable and I'll finish up in here?"
"Sounds good to me." She smiled letting go of him. He playfully smacked her butt as she walked away to the bathroom.
Mary turned on the shower. She pulled her hair band that was holding her hair in a ponytail out, letting her brunette hair fall around her shoulders. She walked out of the bathroom to get herself a towel and a change of clothes. She couldn't wipe the smile off her face as she walked back into the bathroom and got into the shower.
She had longed for romance in her relationship with Steve. They had made plans in the past but every time they went to do what they had planned, it was interrupted by work needing them to come in and help save the day. In the end they decided to stop making plans and do things spontaneously, like tonight.
Once Mary was out of the shower and dressed, she made her way back out to the dining room to see dinner was being served.
"Wow babe, it looks amazing." She said looking at the food on the table.
"Wait until you see dessert." He told her, pulling out her chair.
"What's for dessert?" she asked as she sat down.
Steve pushed her chair back in and sat down across from her. "You'll just have to wait and see."
"You sure are spoiling tonight."
"Only the best for the woman I'm about to spend the rest of my life with." He smiled at her.
"Have I told you how much I love you today?" she asked him.
"Yes but I'd love to hear it again."
She smiled and leaned in closer towards him. "I love you more than life itself."
He leaned forward and smiled again. "I love you more than life itself too."
They met in the middle locking their lips together for a short and sweet kiss.
When they pulled away, Mary didn't feel like eating anymore. She had a feeling, Steve felt the same. "Let's forget about dinner for now."
"It's forgotten."
Steve stood up and picked Mary up in his arms and carried her to their bedroom bridal style, where he kissed her with as much passion he could muster up. Mary happily returned the kiss with just as much passion, if not more.
