The crisp ocean air buffets Rose with strong winds. Her blonde hair, worn loose around her shoulders, whips violently around her face. She wears a big, silly grin on her cold-flushed face as she wipes at her running nose. The Doctor watches her with a small smile, hands snug in the warm pockets of his long overcoat.

Rose pulls off her shoes and socks, wincing at the frigid air as she dashes quickly to the edge of the water. She dips her big toe in the water and squeals in shock. He laughs and cups his hands around his mouth, calling to her.

"It's a bit nippy!" he sniffs the air experimentally, "the water's probably about 50 degress. Maybe a bit more."

She sticks her tongue out in mock rage, slipping slightly on the wet sand. The Doctor laughs again and trips down the beach towards her, kicking up sand as he goes. Once he reaches her, Rose pulls her jacket closer to her body as she huddles against him in an attempt to block out some of the cruel wind.

He wraps an arm around her, "Should've grabbed you a better coat. And maybe some Wellingtons," this last part is directed at her bare feet.

Rose giggles, tucking her freezing nose against his jacket. The Doctor shrugs off his long brown ocercoat and hands it over to Rose, who gratefully pulls it on. He bends over and unlaces his battered traingers. Peeling off his holey socks, the Doctor tests the water himself.

He lets out a shrill yelp that he'll never admit to making, and quickly dries his toe off on his leg. He hesitates for a moment, obviously conserding something, and having having come to a decision, pulls out his trusty sonic screwdriver. The Doctor fiddles around with it for a few seconds and points it at the water; the air is filled with the trademark buzzing sound.

After a few seconds have passed, he gestures towards the water. "Go on, try it out now!" he says. At his urging, Rose cautiously extends her foot and dunks her toe quickly.

"It's warm!" She gasps in disbelief, letting her whole foot drop into the water.

The Doctor rolls up the cuffs on his trousers, revealing bony ankles as he joins her in the pleasantly warm water. He offers Rose his arm and they stroll down the beach, feet submerged in the water. They slowly fade away into tiny specks, before finally disappearing entirely.

It's until later, once they're back in the TARDIS, that they realize they've left their shoes behind.
