Title: Snowfall
Author: Warangel88
Pairing: Lightning/Snow, Serah/Snow

She's never really liked the snow...no, not in the least. It was cold, and it always seemed to get in her way while traveling. This small town certainly lost its appeal once she realized just how often it snowed there, and how intensely. Blizzards were road-closers and time-wasters, and this town was battered with them constantly.

Her comrades didn't seem to mind much; they were a little relieved, actually, to finally have a break. A chance to heal their wounds, and steel themselves against the foes that would stand against them in the days to come.

Snowflakes landed in her open hand--er, glove--, and her eyes narrowed at what she thought might be Snow Villier's voice. Snow must have really wanted to leave the area, and she didn't blame him; despite that, the stubborn ass should at least take some time to heal the injuries he sustained in the previous battle.

But...his stubbornness as of late was justified; she knows that he would do everything and anything to try and save Serah, much like herself. Perhaps that is really the only thing that ties them together.

Their love for Serah.

To her, Snow might never be good enough for her younger sister. She certainly didn't like the idea of him becoming her brother-in-law. And yet...she didn't hate the idea, either. Maybe it was just hard to get used to...

Out of the corner of her eye, Snow suddenly appeared. He approached Vanille and spoke rapidly, his words incoherent to her from this distance. Probably something to do with their trip. Whatever it was, it certainly kept his attention away from the soft sprinkle of snow landing gently on his head.

She found it odd that her sister's fiancé reminded her so much of snow, but so different at the same time.

He reminded her of fire, such was his optimism, his passionate determination that simply gave hope to others around him. This is what draws others to him; he is that which they need, he is that which picks them up when all seems lost.

Hope.

Someday, they would know that what they fight for, that which they dream of, would become a reality. They would know that it isn't a waste. However, despite his warm personality, he resembles snow in...other ways. Snow can be innocent at times, floating gently through the air.

Or...it can be frigid, deadly, a maelstrom of destruction...an all-consuming force.

It can really make a person wonder why...why they ever liked snow in the first place.

She supposes that the only time Snow Villiers truly reminds her of a violent blizzard is when he fights...bringing all of his might down on the enemy, or destroying them with help from his Eidolon; the Shiva sisters. Other times, he's optimistic and cheerful, reminding her of just how innocent snow can be.

"Hey there, Light," came Vanille's cheerful voice, ruining her train of thought. To be more precise, her contemplation regarding that blonde hair man who was so much like his namesake.

"Vanille," she replied curtly.

"I've got good news!" The red-haired woman's face positively lit up, and Lightning raised an eyebrow.

Good news?

"Snow just informed me that we can leave this town...tomorrow!" Her tone didn't change. The happiness didn't leave her. Herface remained ever-so-bright.

"The sooner we leave, the better," Lightning replied. She then proceeded to follow Vanille to the inn that were staying in for the night.

Strangely enough, as she walked, Lightning realized that she didn't seem to mind snow so much.

Or perhaps...she was beginning to understand Snow Villiers a little more.
