A/N: This one is mean. I dont know why I wrote it, but when I saw the Ishbal Massacre episode, I cried my eyes out. :/ then I started writing XD. Anyways. Roy/Riza AGAIN, but nothing happens. :P R&R please kthx. 3
Thousands of bodies…
Buildings in ruin…
It took seven years to achieve this level of inhumanity…
Those seven years we dubbed the Ishbal Massacre.
I stared wide-eyed at the people still running… the structures that were hardly standing. But it wasn't my place to disobey orders… no matter how much I detested them.
With a simple snap, everything was gone, left to the mercy – if it can be called that – of the flames that consumed all objects in its path. All the people of Ishbal could do was pray for a quicker death – a painless end.
Tears brimmed my dark eyes, threatening to come forth at any second.
What have I done?
I dropped to the ground, gazing at the devastation before me. Hundreds of thousands of civilians lost their lives at my hands… At these damn hands…
I pulled out my switchblade: a precaution; had anything happened to my gloves, my alchemy, it would have been there. I set my hand on the ground, letting the blade hover inches above it.
"I'll never use it again…" the tears spilled from my eyes, streaming freely down my dirty cheeks.
Riza's voice penetrated my thoughts, "Sir?"
"Stay back! I'm sick of it, Hawkeye… of all the death." My voice was shaking even though I tried to remain calm. I gritted my teeth, eyes narrowed, and raised the weapon.
She seized her pistol and took aim. The next thing I knew, I heard a black and the knife flew from my grasp.
I sat; utterly stunned that she would even think to pull something that dangerous on a commanding officer. I let my onyx orbs meet hers as she now stood directly in front of me.
"Forgive me, Colonel."
SLAP!
The noise echoed throughout the town. Maybe that was the reverberation through my head… nevertheless… she hit me!
I raised my still-gloved hand to my cheek, eyes wide.
"You idiot!" She yelled, her voice wavering, "What were you—"
"I wont kill innocent people, Hawkeye!"
"You already did, Roy!" She used my first name. I saw her tremble with every word that she spoke thereafter, "We all have… that's what a war is. It's a useless attempt in killing every person we can, innocent or guilty, child or adult! It's death after painful death!"
I remained silent. No amount of argument would justify our cause being right. I got to my feet.
"So what you're saying is that one more death wouldn't hurt?" I placed my hand on the gun at my side and withdrew it from the holster, pointing it directly at her.
"C-Colonel Mustang…"
"Lets see how you like it, Lieutenant… being at the receiving end." I gripped the firearm tighter…
And shot Lieutenant Riza Hawkeye.
"RIZA!" Roy shot up, cold sweat dripping down his face. He turned his gaze down, seeing the serene look upon his wife's sleeping features.
He lay back down, sighing heavily.
It was only a nightmare… he reassured himself, closing his shadowy eyes.
